Hey all,

I didn't see video of the Copa Italia match against Udinese, but I did notice something. We used a "special" shirt that had a large black box on the back? Why did we use this as opposed to our regular shirt? Does the black box serve any special function?

Also, I was wondering, is there any difference between the shirts that the players officially wear on the pitch and the 70 euro ones that the retailers sell to us supporters?

Okay, notice in the photo by Marcello, how the "9" of Julio Cruz is surrounded by solid black on the Inter shirt. Check the photo below, and you'll see how the regular nerazzuri stripes run all the way down the shirt, no black surrounding. Why???

Jesse, if you notice, we also have this "black box" when it comes to our home jersey for CL matches ever since 03/04. Why do we use that? My only guess is that it enables some to see the jersey numbers clearer. Why don't we use that in Serie A? Beats me.

But I don't think it's anything special.

I think it has something to do with the competition regulations. I can say for sure that any team with striped jersey has that "box" in CL matches. I'm not sure about Coppa Italia, but maybe it's the same thing.

It's only used by teams who weren't relegated :D:p

I'm in agreement with Handoyo here. The black box is probably added for functionality rather than anything else.

If it was a special jersey, surely Nike would have marketed it in an attempt to milk more money out of the willing Inter fans, no? ;)

Ciao,
Tim

And besides, Milan & Juventus use these stupid black boxes in CL matches too (Not sure about their Coppa Italia matches).

So it's gotta be a rule for striped jerseys.

it's to improve visibility of player numbers, a number on a one colour background is easier to see than on stripes

In comparison to our normal home shirt I find it quite ugly. There is nothing special about.

Our Champions League shirt in a long sleeve is a very hot and unique shirt. It is ashame you can not acquire either our away shirt or our Champions League third strip in a long sleeve, small size, from Interstore otherwise I would have made a purchase for both some time ago.
