Sociedad play a much different style though. I feel Sociedad is generally a bad matchup for us as they can press very well and also keep the ball.

That doesn't mean Atletico will be easy, but it will be a much different match.

We also rotated a decent amount in both games against Sociedad which I assume we won't versus Atletico.

Depay is not clicking with Atletico playstyle and with Griezman so hopefully he plays vs us and not the Good Correa.

One guy that always impressed me when I watched Atletico is left wingback Lino. Also wonder if they go with the Koke-De Paul-Saul midfield with M. Llorente as wingback or if they bring in Molina (either in place of Llorente or one of the midfielders with Llorente going central).

Atlético de Madrid play their last game pre-CL tomorrow at 14:00 CET/8:00am in North America at home against Las Palmas, who are one of the stingiest sides in La Liga this season.

Regrettably the game is in Madrid...could've been a bitch for Atleti if they were playing in the Canary Islands this week, but no such luck.

After all will be Athletic and Girona fighting for that CL spot. Best case scenario Barça misses it but i don't think so.

Athletic having away draws to the teams 19th and 20th in the league are four hugely wasted points that could/would make life so much more interesting for Barcelona trying to secure a top-4 finish...Barcelona still have to play Real, Girona, Atlético, and Athletic Club ALL away from home, but their current cushion + penchant for stoppage time winning goals will likely see them over the finish line in the CL places.

Real only got 4/9 points during Girona's tough 3-game spell here, so they didn't put the title race to bed at all. Away trip to Valencia soon where they always struggle...obviously the favorites still but I won't rule out strange happenings here.

Just dropped points to the 20th placed team. Almeria hasn’t won a game this season if I’m not mistaken.

Morata just missed an absolute sitter in the 94th minute too.

I didn't even bother to watch that game, you've got to be fucking kidding me. Almería's been relegated since September for fucks sake.

It's not even like they have nothing at stake in the league...4th place and the CL is not secure by any means with the season Athletic Club is having. Atlético have plenty to play for.

Please no stupid bullshit in the return leg. Atleti's been strong at home all year but we've been strong away from home too, no defeats on the road in any comp this season. Keeping it that way is enough.

Why do you guys act like a surprise, Atletico is known two faces this season, horrible away and god like at home. 5 wins, 5 draws, 7 losses while away.

But they always win in at home. Lost 2-1 against Las Palmas and won 5-0 at home. Following pattern is Real Madrid (1-1 and 3-1), fucking Celtic (2-2 and 6-0), Lazio (1-1 and 2-0), Almeria (2-2 and 2-1), Valencia (0-3 and 2-0).

This indicates very hard return leg.

I wonder if it's better for us if they win in the cup against Athletic or not. If they get eliminated morale will be lower but at the same time they are more desperate to get into 1/4's of CL.

They are like Jekyll and Hyde this season. Their form in away games is really questionable but at home they turn up heavy so we really have no reason to think we are already qualified.
