Since all of us like soccer, that must mean most of us play the game. So, I just want to know what positions do you guys play?

I, myself, play soccer for my regional CDC youth training soccer club. It's not exactly a competitive club. We just have regular friendlies against other clubs.

I usually play on the right side, right back or right wing. But I almost always find myself straying to the centre, especially when I'm playing defence.

Well, I don't join any team and hardly play football in Singapore. But I play it a lot in Indonesia.

I started off as a central defender. I think they wanna take advantage of my size. :D Yeah, I'm big and fat. But, later on, I play as a striker because of my size, as well. I'm very Vieri-esque when playing but my movement are more like RVN. The goals I score are like them too, which means, tap-ins all the way. :D

I still play as a central defender at times though. I'm very slow but I think I can read the game well. Walter Hanuel.

Oh, and I absolutely suck as a keeper.

Oh part 2, I hardly play in a real football-size field. I play indoor football all the time.

I'm really horrible at playing football, but when i do, i end up as either a goalkeeper or the central defender. Defending is what i do best. :D

I'm not that good in football either, but the best role/position for me is probably like CZ's. I just run like a maniac and so on. :howler:

For 2 and a half season I played as semi pro for
Homalund (sec div team in Swe). However my achilles
injury did somehow stop my progress to a bigger stage! :depress:

I still play on weekends with friends, and also for my company
team during the week.
Prefered position is on the right wing, but I could/have played
as central midfielder aswell! ;)

On a more diplomatic note: Im ready and available for
the coach to play at any given position :D

Well I usually play in central midfield. I like to play as an attacking midfielder but I can also play in a more defensive role where I just try to hack down the opposition players :dielaugh: . Sometimes I play as a right winger too. I`m not that fast but I can cross well. My best weapon is my long shots and free kicks.

Without bragging I can say that I was a huge talent who got the wrong soccer education. Hence didn´t make it to the prolevel.

And my favourite position is LM. I can play LB, playmaker and CF too. I´m like a younger Luis Enrique! Such versatility... :D

Oh my god. That's way too cool. I wish I can be in a real soccer club, but it's highly unlikely, cause in Singapore, there's only one main league (I think).

Well..........I played quite high standard football until I joined my senior school where I had to choose whether to play Rugby or Football and being tall and everything I chose Rugby, which I am now doing well in if I may say so myself. :D

But before at my old school I played quite good football. I am left footed and played for the year above at either LM or LB. Then the following season I started as the lone CF with varying success, before moving back to LM. As the season progressed there was an injury crisis and I played RB, despite there being a right footed LB LOL!!!I actually probably played better at RB than at LM. I was also the teams penalty taker and scored every one I took. I remember in the QF of the local tournament we were in a shootout and I was the only player to convert my kick...we had players who were in Reading and Fulham's youth teams taking penalties and they missed :D But I scored :D

I still enjoy playing at the park with my mates....and I play very well when it's just for fun, rather than in proper matches. I suppose compared to my mates I am quite skillfull and I suppose I am like a very amateur style Roby Baggio in the way I play :D

Sorry, I didn't mean to brag, just having a bit of fun :D

I played real football :D (11 Vs 11) just for 4 years, but in other periods it used to be in small field/basketball court (5 Vs 5, like that).

And in those 3/4 yrs, I used to play in tournaments organized within the school, not in school team. :dielaugh:
I was never fond of being in a school team, so never tried for that and wud not have been selected as well, coz I am not that good, COZ I am just not interested to spend that much time in football..... I love to play basketball and cricket. :proud:

Anyway, my positions used to be RB/CB/DM :proud:
I haven't got that much skill. I would run on and on, like emre/okan, not like a mad man just running on and on, but doing well as well. Just pass the ball around and stopping the opponents from attacking (DM). When I wud have the possession, I would not mind to kick the ball as hard as I could (in our box). :dielaugh:

Goals ? yup :proud:
We had a tournament in the school.
And I was kinda doing J.Zanetti stuff in that tournament (ofcourse it's among us friends/seniors/juniors - the tournament in school:fero:), .... sadly my long passes sucked/sucks, so I used to try to dribble past opponents, trying to use my skills, usually in vain !! But I was not that bad when it came to using the flanks and passing the ball around. The other reason why I wasn’t bad was coz I cud use my strength (physical), I am/used to be a strong lad, not afraid of tackling (usually good ones and I never injured my friends) and I do have speed and my stamina is good as well. Run !! Run !! everywhere, ofcourse helping my team-mates, pressure when the opponent had possession …

Atlast, talking abt the goal !! It was a rainy day ... :D
I got back the possession in the centre area of the field and started the run (from the centre area of the field ofcourse) .... I would usually pass the ball, but it was a different day. I started the move all on my own. It was a good counter attack move by Pravesh. When I was got near to the penalty box, I was trying to pass the ball, but my teammates yelled at me to take a shot. (oh my god, I had never taken a shot from that far, I didn't want to be laughed at, coz it was really far for me !!)
But somehow, I was forced to take the shot.

## Reminder : I just had to get past one opponent and when I saw 2/3 defenders coming towards me, I took the shot straightaway, coz I cud no way dribble past 2 at that time !!

What happened next ?
In my disbelief, it went to the right top corner for a goal. A stunner by Pravesh. :proud: I had scored for the first time in any kinda tournaments (mine-tournament, but still). The goal, I had scored proved to be the winner (coz before I had scored, the score was 2-2 or 3-3). I am not lying, but it was something like Almeyda's. The only difference being that I had just taken a wild shot, which luckily went in. :dielaugh: :proud:
And you know how I celebrated the goal ?? I shouted - "GOAL" and ran around like a mad boy. :dielaugh: :dielaugh:

coz I was only used to supporting teams (television) and I never knew how to react after scoring a goal.

When did I score my next goal in any tournaments ?

NEVER ! :D

So, am I really good in football ----- A big "NO" !! Practice makes a man perfect, and I never practice. But I am not bad when it comes to passes. I also played in the small field (5 Vs 5) and I was not that bad. I even won 5 Vs 5 tournament (in college, yet again not in college team but just a mini-tournament among our college students.... It was a sports week event.)

That's only few memories I have of football. But same can't be said of Basketball though. :D I spent much time in basketball and still do so, when I get to.

Well since they didn't have football at my school I never played the game as a team game so I can't saay I played any position. I used to play football with friends but no position since you can't really have a team when there is only about 2/3 a side games.

:dielaugh::howler: at Prav's story. :D

Did I mention that I have the stamina of a 70 year old and the finishing ability of Diego Forlan or Choutos? :embarass: Honestly, I have missed 2 open goals in my life. Unmarked, no keeper, ball was crossed at a slow pace from the right and the goal at my mercy. Somehow, I missed. :D Twice! :dielaugh: Two truly embarassing moments.

Oh and btw, for the strikers out there, do you aim when you shoot? Personally, I didn't and it was purely instinctive every time I shoot the ball. I don't have time to aim so I just try to hit it on target. :D

That's a disgrace. :fero:
Thankfully, I never had embarassing moment when playing football. But I had one when playing basketball. Let me tell ya. :D

Adult Stuff :D :

Me and 3 other guys were helping our school's girl basketball team by playing training matches with them. Me and other boy + 3 other gals in one team and 1boy + 4gals in the other team. Our sports teacher was the referee there. I would not mind to block their shot or like that, coz the teacher wanted us to play well so that the gals wud have good training match.

As usual, I was damn active ..... as always whether it's boys or gals.
Then came the much awaited moment when my opponent (a gal) was actually abt to grab the ball. I also tried to get the ball, so that the gal wud not get it. I had no wrong intentions, really !!
My hand went straight to her _ _ _ _ (the upper part of the body). And the force was definitely there. Just imagine, I was going for the ball, so how wud my hand's position wud be. It did seem that I really wanted to grab her ..... .

For a moment, there was a silent in the court (thankfully it was just the players and no audiences = 1 teacher + 3 boys + 10 girls). Then in few seconds everybody started to laugh like hell !! :fero: I said sorry to the gal, she also smiled but a bit nervous. Well, our sports teacher (lady) was also laughing. :D

And after that incident on that day, I played as if I had no stamina. I didn't want to repeat that kinda stuff again on that particular day.

I had never been embarassed like that. Ofcourse, it does happen when playing with gals, coz it happened many times after that as well, but that particular incident was really ...... :D

Sorry for going off the topic .... from football to basketball.
