You don't sack a coach unless the season's over.

The season is very much not over. We're still competing on all fronts.

Let's talk again in late May -- if we bomb out of the cups and he somehow misses out on top four surely he'll go. Sacking him now doesn't improve our chances though.

Based on what? I’m supposed to believe that the man that won a league title with Giaccherini, Matri and Quargiarella wouldn’t have won it last year? This year would have been tough with the way Napoli are going but he wouldn’t have been 18 points behind I’ll tell you that much.

And yes we may have ended up going out in the groups but if we get knocked out by Porto or get destroyed in the next round by some team what’s the point? Give me that league title over a Last 16 qualification all day
No one talks about last year. The time Conte won with those players, competition for Juve was trash, not comparable in any capacity.

What really bothers me about Inzaghi are the drops in the team's performances from one game to the next. In one match, they play Milan off the park and three days later they go missing in action against Sampdoria. How do we account for that? Is it down to tiredness and the lack of viable options off the bench to rotate? Is it a sign that psychologically, the team are not well prepared because they almost always struggle against smaller teams. Either way, I feel it is on Inzaghi to have the players mentally ready for their next challenge.
It's probably a bit of everything. We don't have the means to rotate properly for a team that plays in 3 tournaments. Add to that, our list of injuries and a coach that doesn't show to be a good motivator.

But we also need to take note that football matches rely heavily on details. With a bit of luck, and decisions going in your favor the matches results change in your favor.

Despite not playing good against Bologna, we had some chances which could overturn the result. (Toro, Hakan and Lukaku chances) We failed to do that and we lost. So blaming one person or one reason for our defeat could simply change if we buried our chances.

In general we are quite wasteful. Teams win matches and titles by creating less and scoring less goals. For a club that concede too many goals, we had to make up for that by scoring goals. When we fail to do as well, we are in trouble.

We are competing for the top 4 which is crucial for the club.

Coach change in the middle of the season is always an enormous risk. You do that only if there is no way out of the crisis. And we are not even in the crisis yet. Milan were and they just pulled themselves out of it.

I define competing as trying to win something. Getting top 4 is merely completing a low bar objective.

Oh I agree with not sacking the coach mid season.

If we reach semifinal of CL and secure with zero trouble top 4 than he can stay here, especially if rotten commies stay our owners. Other than that he should fuck off.

Based on how ridiculous Napoli is killing the league right now, Conte wouldn't have been able to repeat what he did with the much inferior squad.

What's the difference? About 10m. We need every single penny with this broke ass owner.
I mean if Napoli continue like this not even the Treble winning team would have been able to win the title so its a pointless discussion. Fact remains with Conte or any other competent manager we'd have had number 20 guaranteed which for me is more important than any CL group stage qualification or cup that we'd have had. Also we'd have actually put some pressure on this Napoli team who have a notorious choke manager, players who have never won anything in their lives and are the biggest chokers as a club of all time. Instead we've allowed them to keep playing every game with no pressure which is exactly what they want

Don't have one.
This is why blaming players mentality and motivation doesn't cut it for me. Sure, some of our players are only tamed with the whip, but the system and the setup as a whole is the biggest problem here.

Well it's always balancing between those two. It's the individual mistakes these players make usually when we lose games. And then is the coach putting the players in positions/system to succeed in a best possible way.

It's balancing. No one can say it's one of the other.

So would you want to sack him at the end of the season if we finish second and go out in the qf?
If yes did you wanna sack conte after his first season with us? Finished second and went out in the group in CL.. Yes also reached EL final....
Imho conte also in his first year had a stronger squad...
Just bringing this up cause many seem to suggest that conte was sooo much better..
I know it s a lot more frustrating to be chasing napoli by 18 points rather than chasing jube by 6 but wanting simones head over it seems silly to me.

EDIT: let me put it like this i do not think we gave Inzaghi a good enough squad to fire him over finishing second and reaching the QFs.

look broader my friend. compare the status of teams each manager inherited. Just imagine, what would Inter have achieved, had we hired Inzaghi instead of Conte back in 2019. To have a better picture in view, you need to delete everything that was done by Conte and visualize only based on what we had after Spalletti with all its players, staff, and problems.

p/s: I'm against sacking Inzaghi until we finish the season. If he finishes 2nd in the league and manages to reach the 1/2 in CL, I would probably lean toward the idea of continuing the next season with him.

Not without new owners as those who would want to take the job will be even worse.
As for Conte I believe every manager deserves 2 seasons to show his worth. Conte won the scudetto in his second, inzaghi has managed to lose 7 league games.

Was talking about competing for CL places.

We sack him now and we're less likely to make top four.

So we re only judging managers based on results with no considerations to the circumstances they are facing? We spent over 100 mio for conte to win the fucken Scudetto. On the other hand with inzaghi we ve mostly divested from the team but who cares about that?
Also conte managed to dropp out of CL in the group stages twice while inzaghi got us through......But again conte gets a free pass for that....
Also lets not forget that one of the main reasons conte fucked off from here is cause he could see the writing on the wall and he knew he would not win shit once we started selling our stars with no replacement but fuck inzaghi for only finishing 2nd.....
Also again take lukaku and brozo out for 4 months in that scudetto wining run by conte and all of a sudden it aint that clear if we ll win that one. If you wanna make it fair you could also throw in some contract extension drama mid season by your captain.
Inzaghi had a lot of shit thrown his way which really were not under his control...

Also full disclosure if we get a new owner who has cash then by all means put replacing inzaghi on the agenda if we can get a big name and support him.
But thus far Inzaghi is doing well/ok for what we are giving him.
BTW that does not mean that i m happy with our current performances or us loosing 7 games.
But what we need most under sunings leadership is a coach who can consistently get us to CL on a tiny budget and that is exactly what inzaghi has done thus far.

What kind of hypothetical BS is this? Nobody fucken knows just imagine we spent 100+mio on players inzaghi wanted like we did for conte.... Nobody knows how that would turn out cause inzaghi has never gotten that in his whole career....
Fects are inzaghi is not getting half the support that conte got he s having a worse team than conte had and he s still finishing second and doing better in CL than Conte did.

Well, losing Lukaku, Hakimi, Eriksen would not guarantee us gettin 20. Thats why Conte left. We will never know what would Conte do with this squad or what would Limone achieve if he had Conte squad. For me, both are shit. We need someone with fresh ideas.
If you think Conte would have lost the title to Pioli and that Milan team you need to find a different sport to watch

That's assuming everything would have stayed the same ie. no meltdowns by Conte in the early season and we would have continued playing like we did with Conte. But without Lukaku and Hakimi. We had a pretty good early season with Inzaghi.

I agree we would have maybe won the Scudetto with Conte but there are too many variables to consider it a given. Conte fucking left us because we had to sell players. What does that tells about his ability or mentality?

What 100M are you talking about? Lukaku's transfer is offsetted by the sale of Icardi. Who else? Barella? Bastoni? Darmian? They are still under Inzaghi's disposal, including Lukaku. If you give Inzaghi 100M I'm not even sure he would be able to spend it properly since his network is limitted to Lazio
