Could not and won’t keep up with whatever the fuck is being discussed in this thread but I won’t accept any Handanovic revisionism; man was an absolute legend between the sticks.
Nobody said he wasn't a good goalkeeper

apparently retired after no one wanted to sign him on an offer he deemed satisfactory. Will allegedly stay at Inter in some capacity.

Di marzio:

Samir Handanovic has decided: he is retiring from playing football. The Slovenian goalkeeper hangs up his gloves at the age of 39.

Handanovic's last experience will therefore remain that of Inter, which ended on 30 June with the end of the contract that tied him to the Nerazzurri, which was not renewed. He will now hold an institutional position within the club: he will be a collaborator, but nothing is yet defined with the parties who will contact each other in the next few days to define the details. Meanwhile, tomorrow 14 September, he will be at the pre-derby curve meeting together with Materazzi.

I would've thought he'd get an offer from somewhere. He might have had retirement on his mind for a while and also didn't want to move.

Can’t imagine it’s worthwhile moving countries at that age, just to earn 25% of your former salary on a short-term contract. Not if it involves pulling your kids out of school, forcing them to learn another language ect.

Yes probably got a lot of offers but nothing interesting for him.

When Buffon was 40 he went to PSG, maybe he was hoping for an offer like that but it never came.

I like that under the comments on twatter, everyone is bitching at him, that how dares he speak about Onanas behavior. Even tho its a known fact that the guy has been a problem everywhere he was, while Handa has been a top professional for all of his career... some inter fans are really complete garbage.

Yeah, just like all the big offers he had when he bitched every year about how he wanted to play CL. That's why he waited until well after the mercato ended to come back and keep sucking on the golden teat. Big offers, sure. Of course he didn't miss the opportunity to shit on a fellow goalkeeper.

Oh the horror.. he wanted to play the champions league with Inter. Crazy that he had such high expectations from one of the top 3 clubs in the country.... and please show where he shat on a fellow gk? Or is saying "bad behavior", which everyone knows Onana has, now shitting on someone?
Some people would rather bash a club legend and one of the most professional players we had in years, which his teammates can confirm, just to suck on Onana, who had bad reputation everywhere he went and was also suspended for doping. Crazy what 2 good saves vs Porto do to a fanbase.

Very nice interview

I especially liked (and agree) what he said after the CL-final in Istanbul (and for the 100th time - fuck lakaka for screwing 3 good scoring chances). Inter should have won that game - the team showed they can handle anyone. And I for one believe this will give the team confidence, maturity in this season.

And ofcourse alot of respect for Handanovic - I'am glad to have men like Handanovic represent Inter.

He wanted to play CL, period. He would have more than happy to jump ship had any CL team shown any interest. And yes, it's not exactly good form to say a former teammate was "behaving badly"; no specifics, just coincidence that he's railing on the guy who finally benched him.

By the way, I'd like to know how exactly this mythical 'professionalism' of Handanovic ever manifested itself. Every interview I've ever read from this guy is dripping with barely concealed contempt and self-importance.

Everybody is going to read his words in a way that supports their opinion on Handanović. You guys will just have to fight about year after year.

The problem with words said in interviews is that you have to really believe the person he isn't lying or trying to make himself look better. Just look at Cassano. Even if he speaks what really happened, I don't believe him until at least 2 more confirm his words.

He stayed and preformed when it was most difficult time for Inter.
Nothing more to add here.
Period.

Grazie Handa!
