This quote is so weird because it actually always was good form. He lacks the critical qualities and characteristics to be able to enter that group and I think it'll be more and more blatant as he gets near the later part of his career because all these guys were monsters until late in their career. Benzema is still a top top player as is Lewandowski and I assume Kane will still keep performing quite well as he has qualities that don't tend to fade away with age. Suarez was nuts even at atletico.

I really agree with this post. Yes even we all know that Lukaku is a big game bottler but why did you or what made you bestow him with the right and pressure of a Tournament winner. he is not that. He has never been that. But give him enough confidence he will get you to the latter stages of these tournaments. And then the rest of the boys can step up, if they have it in them. Dont blame it all on Lukaku. What did Djeko or Lautaro do in the finals. What did Barella do?

Thats exactly the mentality of a small organization or a small club, blaming it all on a single person. Why did Inzhagi start with Djeko? When we all know, he brings his body and he holds up, he does some link up play, he will never outrightly make you win the game. Why did he wait for so long to replace Hakan? Why did he even buy that Argenentinian Lazio forward?

Secondly, you have to put the context on. We are not a financially,cash rich club anymore, we dont have the finance to buy the next Crespo,next Vieri,even next Milito so need guys like Lukaku to help us to transition to that next phase whenever it comes, if we leave out Lukaku whom we will base this transition on? Dzekos holding up play, whatever that means or that Lazio guy..

Imo, most of Marotta type deals happen because he actually has good relations and reputation with agents, it's always the same he is dealing with after all.
