How can it be overpaid?

We pay 65M + 10M bonus and to be spread in 5 years.

^^ you`re kidding, right? We payed €20m less than Woodward did, and this is without considering the inflation on the market - which has been crazy in the past 2 years.

Man U wanted to get rid of him. You miss this fact. They didn't exposed that as Inter's management did with Icardi but it was quite obvious. 65mln + 10 more = 75mln which is only 8 below demanded 83mln by Edi.
Inter could have handled this smarter but it was clear from the beginning that Lukaku is our first and the only one target for the attack, so United kept firm to the very end.
In addition - nobody else was really interested in Lukaku.

Something not a lot of people have mentioned....he speaks Italian very well. That’s definitely a plus to help him settle in quickly

I’m pretty sure he speaks like 5 languages pretty well. Dude is actually pretty smart on and off the pitch.

Conversion rate of only 20.2%. You can't blame the United team for that tbh. That's on him.

Please someone refute me.

He brings something else to the table, like hold up play, when his touches don’t fail him.

and also BBQ/McDonalds for all the team mates during training. Sometimes sharing a meal or two would do it for colleagues, Rolex is #NotForEveryone.

Hopefully he's gonna succeed here. Looks motivated at least. Welcome to Inter!

Have to admit that his transfer is exciting. Now bring in a top quality midfielder and I won't complain about this transfer market window.

Damn, feels weird that Lukaku is actually an Inter player.

I'm gutted that it's come to this and at such a high price with Icardi leaving, but I hope he kills it and proves me wrong.

Most people like to think in a rather binary way about this. I think these things don’t have to be mutually exclusive.

Icardi can be sold at a huge non profitable way, and we could be totally ripped off by the acquisition cost of Lukaku, but Lukaku can still be a somewhat decent player.

Basically, the financial aspect of these two intertwined deals have nothing to do with Lukaku’s ability, only the latter has a control over the expectation of his performance.

I dislike the financial dealing of swapping out Icardi for Lukaku for the net expense, but I still consider Lukaku as an useful addition.

Actually, his conversion rate is in line or even slightly better than that of some of Serie A's most acclaimed forwards.

In the same time frame, in fact, Icardi scored 40 league goals in return for 174 shots, which leads to a 23% conversion rate. However, if you don't take into account the 11 penalties that helped him boost his stats (Lukaku never took a pk for United), his goal/shots ratio drops to 17%. I refuse to check the stats of any of our other players because I don't want to get depressed. :D
Taking a look at non-Inter players, last season's MVP :)lol:) Ronaldo scored 24 goals over 185 attempts (c.r. 12%, 11% w/o penalties), while the "gunslinger" Piatek got 23 goals out of his 120 shots (c.r. 19%, 17% w/o penalties).

This doesn't make Lukaku a better striker than them, but should at least dispel the myth that he's a lousy, extremely inaccurate striker. Especially considering that two of the three players I mentioned have little to no football talent besides the ability to shoot at goal.

Just for laughs, Messi and Mbappé fared a little better, boasting a conversion rate of 21% (19% w/o penalties) and 26% (25% w/o penalties) respectively.
