While I don't expect him to set the pitch on fire, I think he can be a decent addition. This is among the more sensible of Branca's dealings (of which there aren't many).

Zarate's performances last season meant Inter wouldn't exercise the option to take him, while Forlan was a waste space. Pazzini and Milito can only play as Prima punta, we needed someone to support. And given our general financial condition there weren't any better candidates I can see for 10 odd million who will take a salary of ~2m. In a year or two we would need to replace Milito and it would cost us big bucks. Maybe the money would be better saved for then, with the hope that we might make the CL and will have some cash to spend.

It provides more balance though and can be used as a whip into the defender's face when he dribbles.
