Gagliardini claps back at Rabiot: ‘Go call your mother’​

The row between Roberto Gagliardini and Adrien Rabiot is escalating, with the Monza midfielder urging the Juventus star to ‘go call your mother.’

There was a chaotic end to last night’s Serie A match at the U-Power Stadium, as Monza had equalised at the 92nd minute with a goal from Valentin Carboni.
At that moment, Gagliardini celebrated by screaming in the face of Rabiot. Juve got their revenge within 60 seconds, as Federico Gatti snatched the winner for a 2-1 Juventus result.

Rabiot mocked Gagliardini on Instagram with an image of the incident: ‘Learn to always stay humble. Because until the referee blows the whistle for the end of the match, everything is still possible. Remember this.’

Now the Monza midfielder has given his own response on Instagram to the Rabiot story.

“What happens on the pitch stays on the pitch, not on social media,” along with emojis of a wave and a finger urging silence.

It was followed by Monza dialect which translates to ‘Go call your mother!’

actually Inter had a better point record in the first half, before Eriksen came to the club, so I don't think Eriksen not starting was the only problem back then. Like Valero and Vecino being off form come to mind, Gagliardini wasn't the only midfielder that wasn't performing on the highest level. Sensi being injured for most of the season also didn't help.
We were first on Gameday 23 but then we lost it and couldn't hit proper form to regain first place.

while Gagliardini wasn't good enough for Inter, it's not like he was so bad that we couldn't win with him on the pitch. And also as much as I like Eriksen, his second season - the full season at Inter - I thought he played better than in his first half season at Inter. So even if Eriksen did play more, I doubt we would've won the league back in 2020. He still looked sluggish in the first half of 2020.

What I'll always remember and always bug me about the 2nd half of that season - actually, it kinda began with the away game in Florence in December just before the 1/2 point - was how many games we squandered late leads in and were held to a draw.

MD20 @ LEC: lead 1-0, conceded 77', drew 1-1
MD21 vs. CAG: lead 1-0, conceded 78' (Nainggolan!!!!), drew 1-1
MD27 vs. SAS: led 2-1, conceded 81', regained the lead through Valero 86', conceded again 89', drew 3-3 (this was the game with Gagliardini's most famous fuck-up)
MD30 vs. BOL: led 1-0, Bologna red card, Lautaro misses a penalty, conceded 1-1, Bastoni gets a red card, concede winning goal 80'
MD31 @ VER: led 2-1, conceded 86', drew 2-2

Of course you can focus on any game involving dropped points you want, but I wanted to highlight specifically the games involving losing the 3 points in the final 15 minutes or, in the case of that Bologna game, a game where everything was set up for us to coast to the three points and we truly had to fuck things up to throw them away.

You could do an exercise like this for Juve as well, I'm sure you can find games they lost points in that they shouldn't have, and also the final table margin was deceptive because Juve clinched the title on MD36 and then lost their last two games while we won our last two...in any case, I count 15 points thrown away, 13 of them against teams that (IIRC) did not qualify for European competition that season...just a spectacular letdown overall. Every team is going to have games where they lose late points, but think about Juve so far this season...there isn't a single game they've had where they led in the last 15 minutes and failed to win (they came close vs. Monza but the cat man saved their asses; Gags also made an ass of himself in that game, giving me two Gagsy tie-ins in this post). We had 15 such points in that season...cut that margin in half, we might've competed for the Scudetto to the end.

The 2020-'21 Scudetto was wonderful...the sad truth is that it really could've, maybe should've been the middle of three straight Scudetti from 2020-'22, but we blew it in the 2020 and 2022 seasons.

Ofc, all pieces play a part in a team's success or failure. Several holes in the squad had to be filled in order to work out like it's doing this season. A player like Gagliardini should have never remained at this club for this long. He was never up for the job. But some people had to find something in him in order to justify him remaining at Inter for many years.
