And about cordoba, he is far from worldclass anymore. He was the primary source of instability in defense in the first half year when we played decently last season. I believe someone posted who was responsible for the all goals scored against us up to around christmas and cordoba alone was responsible for more than half of them, he made ALOT of mistakes.

Jokes aside, I definitely do not want this signing. I'm a huge fan of the Cordoba - Samuel pairing. They were rock solid when they played consistently together in 05/06 and they were impenetrable during the first half of last season. I definitely can see 2-3 more years from them.

We also have Chivu and for the reserve, Burdisso AND Rivas is more than enough. Matrix should kicked out though, since he's been in a free fall in terms of form.

I understand that we'd be missing Cordoba & Samuel and maybe Chivu in the beginning of the season, but weighing the pros of having at least world class defender for the first couple of months of next season against the cons of having to deal with so many defenders for the rest of the season (And maybe years to come), I'd say we should skip signing Carvalho.

It's just that Materazzi is an asso player, but Burdisso and Rivas are just regulars. Definitely we can't afford to keep them both, that's for sure. This got nothing to do with Carvalho perhaps, Mourinho probably doesn't want to rely on players coming back from injuries.
