You know there's more to football than stats right? You have a tendency to talk about players you know little about just by citing stats.

What do you know about how much i know about the players i talk about? Dont flatter yourself, im quite certain i know significantly more than 99% of this board.

Sure there are more to it than just stats, but in this case we are exactly talking about statistics. If you need goals and assists and from midfield, what else would you do than look at statistics? I love to hear a reasonable explanation for that. Like i said, for this tactic to work, you need alot of goals and assists from midfield, its why juve and napoli have success with it, why wouldnt you look at statistics then? When it comes to goals and assists, statistics is pretty much all you got.

Why do you count league only anyway?

Even if we do, one example. Guarin had 4 goals and 4 assist in league only (total of 10 goals and 12 assists). Marchisio had 6 goals and 5 assists in more minutes played than Guarin (total of 8 goals and 9 assists). Also, Marchisio bar two seasons ago, never had more than 4 goals and 4 assists as well.

Does that mean Marchisio is mediocre or that he is not attacking thread? :eek:blivious:

Also, football is way more than only a statistics you know..

edit: Guarin (marchisio) Kovacic (pirlo) and Nainggolan (Vidal). All more or less similar player. Granted, less quality, but still, way of play, position wise, it's very similar.

Because the league is all that really matters? Also most of the goals/assists in the EL by Guarin were against hilarious bad teams like neftci, even you and i could probably score against those.

Also, what does Marchisio's stats from several years ago have anything to do with Guarin? Marchisio is not the main scorer/assister at Juve, Pirlo and Vidal are, yet you are comparing Guarin, who you want to be the main midfield threat at Inter, to Marchisio who is the tertiary midfield threat at Juve? How does that even make any sense?

Also, about the bolded part, i really hope thats a joke, because if you really think nainggolan and vidal are even remotely similar then i dont think can continue this conversation.

no, Pajo.. just no.. Guarin is nowhere close to being in the same league of Marchisio. The difference between the two players is similar to the difference between Inter and Juventus last season point wise. It's a joke to even compare the two players, regardless of how they play.

Also, Guarin nothing Guarin did in the Europa league should even be acknowledged.. it's the Europa League FFS.. But since you say that football is more than statistics, do you mind telling me what non-measurable factor Guarin adds to this team?

I was comparing their stats...

And yes, Vidal and Nainggolan are totally same player. Only Vidal is one of the best in the world, if not the best.

I have to agree, they have a similar style of play, though Vidal is obviously the better one.

There is something fundamentally wrong with your interpretation of football players, their roles and qualities, if you believe they are similar. Nainggolan isnt even half the player Vidal is in the final third of the opponents half, nor does he posses any of the same qualities Vidal has in his offensive game.

But i dont think we will get much further here...

I was comparing their stats...

Guarin: 4 goals in 114 shots. 77% pass rate from 38 passes per game, 1.3 Key passes per game. 2.9 dribbles per game, 2.2 dispossessions per game. 1 interception per game and 1.1 turnovers per game. 1.9 tackles per game, 1.8 fouls committed per game. 1.7 times dribbled on per game.

Marchisio: 6 goals in 61 shots. 84% pass rate from 43 passes per game, 1.2 Key passes per game, 0.8 dribbles per game, 1 dispossession per game, 1.5 interceptions per game, 0.9 turnovers per game. 2.5 tackles per game. 1.5 fouls committed per game. 1.1 times dribbled on per game.

Source: Whoscored.

The gap between the two players is outstanding. In addition to Claudio being better than Guarin he is more efficient and does contributes greatly to Juve's defensive play.. and he's their third best midfielder.., Guarin is our supposed first.. FML..

They are similar defensively; both of them are hard tacklers and defensive workhorses.

- - - Updated - - -

Today in Rome there was a meeting between the ds of Rome, Walter Sabatini and Cagliari president Massimo Cellino. The Giallorossi manager submitted a proposal for $ 10 million to buy half the midfielder Radja Nainggolan. However rejected by the patron Sardinian, then, to Gazzetta.it, reiterated the non-transferability of the Belgian also followed by Inter, "I Nainggolan not give in," said Cellino, thereby continuing to resist the pressing items on the player's future of Indonesian origin.

edit: still a chance lol

First: Why are we comparing our midfield to Juve's? There are so many ways to play the 3 man midfield in a 3-5-2, theirs isn't the only way to do it. Whoever ends up taking that third midfield slot, we'll play a different game from them because our players have a different identity. Napoli's 3-5-2 didn't follow Juve's trend and that was pretty successful, Fiorentina went with something totally different and it worked for them.

Second: Guarin... Keep checking his thread regularly because I still want to do a giant post about him.

Third: Nagatomo? Main mention I can see in this argument is Ojap saying he won't score goals or something? Cause all I can say to that is that I honestly can't remember a time that he shot from inside the box and missed. If he starts getting into the box more often and the team supports his runs well, he can hit a fair number of goals.

Fourth: Make better use of stats please.

With a midfield of Kovacic-Nainggolan-Guarin I honestly think we'd be able to compete with Juventus. I'm really sold on Radja, I've watched him play dozens of times the guy is a beast in terms of workrate and he's also skilled. If Roma get him we're fucked because just like us he's that one piece they're missing in the midfield...and they already have a better mid than us.

Lol this guy must be amazingly good then, if he honestly makes you think that adding him to our midfield will enable us to compete for the Scudetto...

BTW, Happy Canada Day boys!

He doesn't make us Juve level, or close to it

BUT what he does do is allow us to fucking move the ball forward after our defense does its job, instead of fucking long balling it to africa hoping for palacio or cassano to get it and go in 5v1 or 5v2 and score.

And honestly that alone makes us competitive for a UCL spot, but for scudetto, not really. Depends on how the rest of the signings do and what magic mazzari can pull outta his ass.

Neither do I but that's because I'm not expecting 15 from icardi or much from a new system.

I think the better way to deliver my point is that with Radja you can mention inter as a CL Spot but still requires everyone I get on the field and do their job. I can talk all about what he brings to the table but unless he actually does it on the pitch it doesn't mean shit.

Club hasn't got anything from Thohir. Nothing is done yet, but when the deal is done, MORATTI gets 120m€ from Thohir for the SHARES of the club. Club isn't getting anything since the club is the target of the business.

Yeah but Thorir would be a fucking idiot not to make sure that the money would somehow get reinvested back into the club.

If Moratti keeps it all he'd get assassinated lol

Isn't Thohir's money just going into a new stadium and shit? Why am I under the impression that he's not here for transfers?
