Hi everyone. Im new here, and im a milan fan - dont kill me yet. Although my loyalties lie with milan, i have been a long time admirer of Inters fans, and since my adopted nation is argentina, I cant help but have a soft spot for Inter. Crespo and JZ are probably in my top 3 favorite players, and it would make me happy to see them winning a CL or scudetto with Inter.
If there are any fans out there willing to have a conversation with me, not just fling crap at me, id like to ask a few questions of your lot.
Firstly, apart from Javier Zanetti, there really arent any players that can be called true 'icons' of the club. Recoba has been around some time, but i see a lot of people here dissenting him. Add to that, the fact that its uncommon for a player to come to Inter in his 20s and see out his career at Inter. Is this something that bothers the fans of the club, or are most of you satisfied with the big spending every summer and new names coming and replacing old ones?

Secondly, I really admire the spirit of the Inter fan, and the way you guys support your team, even after year after year of heartbreak. That was until that champions league game against Milan 2 years ago. Was anybody here in the stadium that day? What was your opinion of what happened?

I dont mean to attack any Inter fan - as i said I really respect your team and you guys. Im just curious to understand some things about your club. Things that I consider important for any club that I would support.
I hope I can get some intelligent responses. Thanks!

J.Zanetti too old? yes his 33years old. but only resident registration warrant. his physical and fitness condition is always 24years old. his mental, personality always best.

J.Zanetti will be keep "god level" until 2012 and with 10 major trophy(Scudetoo and C.L) over. it's totally not joking or dream.

and We do not know about milan football club. your mean was ac milan? I think Bilan already not real football club. really dirty.

this is sports world. not a cesspool. Football club of Milano? "SOLO INTER"

Whatever... Welcome to this forum.

Hey there, don't worry mate we have other members who are Milan, JuBe, Lazio or Roma fans and they get along with us just fine, as long as they don't come here to provoke or diss Inter, and obviously you aren't like that.

I wouldn't say that J Zanetti is the only 'icon' for us. Surely he's the symbol of this team, the most faithful and respected player. But there are others.

Obviously opinions are not the same between fans, I'm sure if you talk to Milan fans some of them will love Seedorf, Rui Costa, Inzaghi, Gilardino, and some are not so keen.

Same applies to Inter, if you ask me Cordoba, Materazzi, Stankovic are real generals at Inter, and others like Cambiasso and Figo are on their way.

As for the flares incident, what can I say, I was sad and ashamed that night, we really hit rock bottom and I'm actually kinda surprised that Milan fans didn't diss us about it with big banners before derbys after that, we surely would have deserved it.

I was personally very disappointed by the Curva Nord during the last couple of years, first because of that incident, and then because of the attitude after the Villareal disaster.

Then again, you'll find plenty of people around here who will tell you the exact opposite.

Anyway, welcome to the forums and enjoy your stay.

haha well argentina is my adopted country. Im from India, and i know ill never have the chance to cheer on my own country, or even any player from India. Atleast not for the next 20 years. Ive been a fan of argentina since 1994, and that makes me want inter to do well as well. Not something most of my milan clubmates take to very happily ;-).
and i think you are better off without veiri - he had really deteriorated in his last 2 years.

INTER 2009/10 !
First of all, welcome to the forums! ;)

About icons.. Yeah, it really hearts when you have an idol in your team and he leaves when you at least expect.. (Ronaldo)..

If you ask me J.Zanetti and Maldini are the most loyal players ever.. Things are about to change at Inter and there is big chance that Cordoba, Cambiasso, Figo, Stankovic will finish career at Inter.. Thanks to only one man and he is Massimo Moratti.. The best president I have ever seen in football and I'm happy I'm living in this time to witness his human qualities.. Thats why we are more proud to be Inter fans.. Not like Milan,Juve or other "calciopoli" teams...

About flares incident,my friend Frisko said that he was ashamed.. well, I must say I was very sad too, but in a way I was proud.. we were far better in that match and only Dida kept you alive.. you had 0:1 and everything was over. Then Cambiasso scored completely regular goal and (it was Merk I think) disqualified it.. It was just too much for hardcore Inter fans to stand that, like it was tough to stand cheating in serie a last few seasons.. That is when my pride came up!! You can't cheat us!!

Anyway, I have a question for you.. If you have Argentinian roots and love J.Zabetti and Crespo and whish Inter does well, howcome you are not Inter fan but milan??

well living in india i wasnt really invoved with club football till about the late 90s. I really started following clubs after watching Fernando Redondo play for milan. That was what got me introduced to Milan, but since then, Milan have been sopmething special. I love the fact that we have players like Maldini and Costacurta that are true legends in every sense of the word. Every player is always happy at milan, and Milan's great lab always gets the best out of people (pirlo, crespos rebirth). When crespo went to milan 2 years ago, that was the best thing that could have happened - my favorite player and my favorite team coming together.

Lastly, i love that Milan tend to grow a lot of players, and keep them loyal and make them love the club. Apart from Shevchenko, important players almost never leave us. That says a lot about the club.

Welcome mate ... where from in India???

i m from Kolkata, tho currently in Delhi.

As 4 the icon thing, the biggest icon Inter has got in my opinion is Massimo Moratti ... his love for the club and the colors is unrivaled by anyone in this world ... add that to the special relationship the Moratti family has had with the club ... it all adds up to make him a very special person.

A true gentleman ... he has never found wanting as far as passion and commitment goes ... a man widely respected by his peers ... proved by the way he stayed clean of the murky calciopolli scandal ... just goes to show what special a person he is.

He is d icon of Inter ...

Im from bombay - though currently in the USA. its relly annoying to be in a country that cant appreciate football - american football is just stupid and talentless.
Anyway yeah I can see moratti as an icon for you guys - im not sure what sort of history his family has with inter...anyone care to fill me in on that? Is it aynthing like the maldinis with milan? The maldinis are the reason milan are as special as they are today - with cesar maldini in the 60s...then paolo of course, and lastly soon-to-come christian maldini....its a grand tradition that i dont know any other other club being able to boast of.
I do respect Inter for never having indulged in any sort of match fixing or anything else - says a lot of moratti and the club.

i wouldnt ask him ... why he is a milan fan even he is argentinian ... and Zaneti and Crespo play for inter ... for that he should be an inter fan ?? it doesnt matter what are u ... it's ur choice whom to support ... im an inter fan even im albanian and 2 albanians are playing for Lazio ... Behrami and Tare ... does it mean i have to support Lazio instead of Inter ...

INTER 2009/10 !
You got it all wrong.. The main reason I asked him that is because he said that he fancies Inter and wants them to do well, but never said a word about Milan.. ;)

In his life, a man can change his wife, his political opinion, his religion; but never his football team.

Some of us were ashamed at the barbaric behaviours shown by the Ultras in the Champions Leage match in 04/05 but there was nothing we can do and also, there was nothing that Inter could have done to prevent it from happening, other than beating Milan in the first place of course.

But I view that debacle as a separate issue from Inter, the football club, so I have no problem in continuing to support Inter.

Radio, you're "somewhat" correct about Inter having few icons, IF you look 3-4 years into the past. Here's the squadlist for the 253rd Derby played in April of 2003.

* = Still at Inter

(1) TOLDO*
(2) CORDOBA*
(4) ZANETTI J.*
(5) EMRE
(6) ZANETTI C.
(13) CANNAVARO
(14) DI BIAGIO
(20) RECOBA*
(23) MATERAZZI*
(26) PASQUALE
(32) VIERI

Of the remaining, I put Zanetti, Cordoba, and Toldo at Grande Inter Status.

Whatever the Milanista feel for Maldini, I guarantee you the Interisti feel for Zanetti. Il Capitano transferred to Inter not from powerhouses Boca or River, but from modest Banfield. Don't be surprised if he snubs a end-career move to his hometown club to continue with Inter.

Cordoba chose Inter over Madrid when he came to Europe:), immediately making him popular with the Inter fanbase for rejecting the so-called "Best Club in the World". Barring last season, he has consistently been one of the one of the best man-markers, thanks to his INCREDIBLE speed. During the Euroderby 02-03, Cordoba spoke for all Nerazzurri celebrating madly after Oba's equalizer, then slumped over crying following the elimination on away goals. It's wonderful for atheletes express themselves so passionately!

Toldo might not be a youth system graduate, but I would certianly say he's the best Italian keeper behind Buffon. He also has an excellent relationship with fans, according to Frisko, who met him in London. I'm just amazed how he stays so positive when Buffon basically eliminated him from the NT. However, he's not just a goofy grin. Toldo shocked everyone in the 03-04 Champions League when he blocked at full extension, a Thierry Henry penalty kick.

Fact is, these guys are legends amongst the Interista because they posses the right combination of talent and good attitude.

Haha good to see people from India supporting football - some of these teams (Milan, Inter, madrid, valencia) realy should think about making a trip to india. The world really has no idea just how popular the sport is there, even though our national team is terrible.
Inter V Milan at the 120,000 Seater in Calcutta. Im sure it would be packed and even rival the San Siro in noise.

haha south africa....i didnt know much about south africa football till some dude called kamal jasmath came and knocked my milan out in some tourney in football manager.
Kamal jasmath sounds rather indian....but if hes even half the keeper in real that he is in my football manager game, u guys have a great future ahead.

(incidentally south africa won the 2010 wc in my game...with south africa knocking out argentina, germany and italy on penalties after 0-0 draws in the quarters, semis and finals. All down to kamal jasmath).
