INTER TO PLAY BOLTON ON 1 AUGUST
Wednesday, 21 July 2004 10:59:59

MILAN - As part of their preparations for the 2004/05 season, Inter take on Bolton Wanderers at the Reebok Stadium on Sunday 1 August. The pre-season friendly against former Nerazzurri midfielder Youri Djorkaeff's side is scheduled to kick off at 15:00BST.

==============

Now, this looks good. I was not ahppy at all with the amount of friendlies we were rumoured to have. Bolton is not a great squad, but nonetheless, they are not bad as well. This match would indeed help us to be prepared for the Champions League qualifier on August 11/12. It's in England, which is not far from Italy.

Lets hope that Bolton plays with their best squad and our players don't get injured in this match. I would welcome some more friendlies (2 more) than we are rumoured to. :)

I remember when we played Liverpool a few seasons back in a friendly...actually it must have been 5 or 6 but anyway quite high profile friendlies like this are often broadcast live on English TV...I hope so.

DDDJJJ!!! :proud: We're gonna up against the scorer of Inter's best goal ever. Emotion will be all over the place. :proud: Too bad the only players who was here during DJ's era were only J.Zanetti, Recoba and maybe Cordoba. :(

btw, can anyone tell me about Djorkaeff's departure ? I got no idea on that, as how he left Inter. His contract expired, and why the hell didn't Inter want to extend his contract, so on. I thought he was doing good for us.

Add Zamorano and Bergomi to that list as well. Two other players who forced out by Lippi.

Bergomi as well ?? Didn't he retire on his own will, or was he really forced to do so ?:(

He was forced to. He wanted to play another season, but refused to play for another team than Inter. So he retired.

To Lippi´s defense, Bergomi was average his last season and we needed an upgrade.

I'm MLS expert. No he hasn't. He was in negotiations with Meterostars after Mattheus asked him to come and help rebuild, but there was a huge controversy over what his agent said and what he wanted to do, and at the end, nothing came of it.

I'm in that belief that our next pre-season matches will be TIM trophy (against Milan and Juve) and Saitama Cup in Japan. According to inter.it, Mancini will select "two teams of equal value" for the events, cause they are at the same day. So what do you think how the teams should be selected and who should go to Japan and who not.

My two teams, I haven't thought them so much just a quick deal to two teams. (I expect Davids, Van der Meyde and Karagounis to take part too)

Saitama Cup

--------------Toldo
Coco---Cordoba---Burdisso---Pasquale
-----------C.Zanetti--Emre
Van der Meyde------------------Recoba
-----------Ventola---Vieri

Subs: Bindi, Adani, Lamouchi, Farinos

TIM Trophy

----------------Fontana
Dellafiore-Materazzi-Cannavaro-Favalli
-----------Davids--Veron
Stankovic--------------------Karagounis
-----------Martins--Cruz

Subs: Cordaz, Sorondo, Giani, Costanzo, Cambiasso, Choutos

Was there more of those youth players?
