Holy shit!

I was about to buy a new Dell at $750 because my current one is kinda broken. Didn't do it eventually as I wanted to save some money and here people are talking about $2000 laptops! Spoilt kids! :)

Need another help

I just downloaded some subtitles (Those .srt files) for Entourage and they're a little off by 3-5 seconds. Any idea how to manually edit the .srt files?

I'm looking to buy a powerful laptop for gaming. I know desktops are better but I'll be on the move (from aunt's house to other aunt's house often) in the next year and want an upgrade from the Dell Dimension 3000 that I'm currently sporting. It's good enough to play PES 2009 on low specs :)

Right nwo I'm looking on newegg.com for some deals and this has caught my eye:
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16834101179

Is it really worth $1750? Do you know better deals? Please assist.

1. stay away from gateway
2. Quadcore means nothing as not many games support them, Unless you are going to keep your computer for more than few years.
3. Which is impossible because that is gateway. Stay away from gateway.

In VLC you can press 'g' and 'h' to change the subtitle delay while you are watching the video.

To permanently fix the srt file you'll need a specialized subtitle editor, otherwise it would take ages to do it manually.

I tried to do it but it's kinda hard, actually it doesn't work at all. It just has the 'ting' 'ting' 'ting' sound, you know the sound when you press something and it's futile.

So if the subtitle is too fast by 6-7 seconds, approximately how many times should I press g or h?

Thanks Ehsan. :)

I use bsplayer to watch series, since the sub is in the black area, not in the picture. If the timing difference is constant, then you only need to edited once. Well, not once actually, you need to compare the time when someone talk in the series with the subtitle timing and adjust it accordingly. If you use bsplayer, then you can edit the timing up to milisecond, and save your changes. I do not know if you can do it without pausing the scene.

But, if the timing difference is vary alot, then you should look at the video-subtitle compatibility first. I don't know your source of entourage, but if you download it from internet then there are two main sources. It was released by a group when the episode aired (for a tv series only one group is allowed on normal situation to release it by this method, the faster one ofc. ) or it was ripped from a DVD. Most of the tv series subs are the first one. If your source is ripped one, then check the fps. Try to download subs with the same fps as the video's.

Thanks for the input. I used bsplayer once, and it was kinda unstable. Sometimes the software just hang out of the blue and that is why I use VLC now.

I think my video is DVDrip and I have tried to look for some other sub files but to no avail. Well I didn't try that hard though...

Make sure you have the latest version of VLC. Go to tools > preferences > hotkeys, you should see "Subtitle delay up" and "Subtitle delay down" and the keys for them.

When the video is running press h 20 times for every second (it will actually say in the top right "Subtitle delay 50 ms" and so on every time you press it.

Wrong thread?? Yeah I am a massive pc rpg fan. Really looking forward to Dragon Age Origins on 20 October.:)

Yep, i was trying to write in PC Gaming, guess that topic was near it.
I'm really looking to it too, Neverwinter was very good, but kinda choked in the rules of Dungeons and Dragons. I just hope that they will keep system allowing people to create mods.

They will there's an open toolset beta currently going on.:) But its only singleplayer this time while neverwinter nights was single and multiplayer, personally I like single player more so that doesn't bother me.

Hey folks. Anyone here play Warcraft III and use the patches from CuteWorm?

I ran into a problem earlier and found a solution:

http://forums.dota-allstars.com/index.php?showtopic=275365#

On the surface, it seems that I have solved the problem (Can't access run --> cmd or regedit) but in the steps mentioned in that link, I can't run those .inf files. Anyone know how to do it? I'm using Windows XP btw. And yes, Ehsan, I'm looking at you. :p

Counter strike thread merged with the pc gaming thread. PC games can be discussed here no need for a separate thread unless there's lots of interest like fm and the fifa/pes thread.

Going to keep the DOTA one open for now since there seems to be quite a bit of interest.

For anyone who really likes rpg's this is a pretty good video for Dragon Age from E3. Also a nice one called violence trailer. Don't play the videos if you have an issue with blood.

Stefan or anyone, is there a big differance in the different models of the new Core i7 Proccessors? Is the 920 2.66 fine or is the 940 2.93 model way better?
