I'm glad that Martins has finally broken his scoring duck in Newcastle. If I'm not wrong, this is his 5th or 6th goal in the past month or something?

He has a big shoe to fill, Shearer's, and it will be hard to match Alan's feat but hopefully, Martins will fulfill his potential and score a lot of goals, just as we know he could do.

I really think its Newcastle struggle as a team that was the obstacle and not just Martins himself..You could see now that he is doing better as the team is doing better as well.

Its a Newcastle trait to be slow starters but i am sure Martins would do much better under another coach.

Martins seems to have found his feet in the Preimer league.
I'm definitely lookin forward to see more action from him.

Gta admit, I miss him being in our colours, though he wasn't the most amazing of players.......he was still a pure nerazzurri!

Eventhough, i don't think he'll be WORLD CLASS, I still think he will turn out to be a fairly dangerous consistent striker.

Mysterious Martins
Newcastle United manager Glenn Roeder says the rest of the squad are mystified over which foot former Inter striker Obafemi Martins prefers to use. “It has been the talk of the training ground,” grinned Roeder. “I think we all thought he was left-footed but then, when he took the penalty against Reading, he hit it with his right. I was as surprised as anyone and I don’t think anyone knows for certain which is he best foot, which is remarkable. Clearly he’s comfortable on either foot, which is very impressive.”

Rest assured Glenn, he plays with his left, but his right is always there ready for action, watch what he did also against Watford

Not wishing to rub your noses in the dirt, but Oba Martins has been superb for us at Newcastle, I genuinly think that if he carries on in his current form he will be a bigger hero as Alan Shearer, he's got it all, I've never seen a player that has so much power in either foot, as well as being deadly in the air.

He "should" have scored against Chelsea last week, had the linesman not realised his shot had crossed the line.

So far I'd rather have Martins over Shevchenko, he's become a true hero in Newcastle, and is taking the Premiership by storm.

Its not about that. We needed a clinical finisher and a goal poacher which we got though Cresop. We needed players with the arrogance and winning mentality such as Ibra. Oba, no matter in whatever great form he currently is would have never given us those above mentioned elements.

So to be honest he is not missed by many if any of our fans. I’m very happy for him though! He needed to play regularly in order to develop further… so good for him.
