Really disappointing lately, and must be reading the headlines from last year while sitting out for his stupid red card.

Watching his stance on receiving the ball to blast long range shootings and the result coming from its remind me a bit of Guarin despite the difference on power level attached. We all know he is blessed with high vision, good flair, decent passing skill, and so on but his shooting skill is the primary issue he has to be dealt with, this is his missing puzzle piece for becoming a trully high reputation box to box midfielder.
I disagree about high vision, his vision is mediocre at best.

He needs to raise his level ASAP. He's been very underwhelming this season; both for Inter and Italia. I hope he'a not one of those many players who fllourish early and then go down pretty quick before they reach their 30s. Many of these guys get rich and famous at a very young age and can't keep their hunger up for a long time.

One of the most admiring things about elite players, beside their talent and overall quality, is their mentality to keep their level up for a long time; something which many other talented players fail to do and therefore never reach the level many people expected from them.

Having hesitation to choose for passing or not whenever he saw Dumbfries, with the most decisions were not giving Dumfries the ball because Barella know dumfries 99% would give the ball back to defenders, spoiling our build up play or counter attack, is enough for me as a proof for having high vision.

He has been horrible for the better part of two months now. He's offering nothing to the team. Poor defense, zero attacking threat. Complaining about everything. He reminds me of banter era Vecino.

He needs to turn things around. Giving him the armband over Skriniar would be insane.

The guy didn't had a break since 2019, he deserves some credit due to the hard work he makes. He is going full speed for over two years now. Covid season that ended at 21st August, and one month later another season started. After that season that ended with Scudetto, came EUROs, and in less then two weeks after EUROs he was in full preparations for this season. The guy is drained mentally and physically, it's miracle he's still healthy.

Every time Barella plays poorly it's the "he's tired" excuse.

Practically every player in a top 4 team has been playing non-stop for 2 years with the COVID schedule and international duty. Barella is not somehow unique here.

This may be borderline blasphemous but have many of you considered Barella is still a developing player (who will have ups and downs), and frankly, not as good as many think him to be?

I've been saying for years that he is over rated.
He won serie a best midfielder last season and he wasn't even the best midfielder in our team.

It hurts to agree with this especially after I was so hyped the first year of watching him :(

The only area where this guy was truly World Class was his reading of the game and intensity which led him to make numerous interceptions during a match which seems to have disappeared nowadays.

That and the fact he's being used solely as a RCM while every game i can remember him scoring or coming close to a goal has come from the left, he's basically another wing back on the right and not a very good one at that.

Last year he had a pretty good chemistry with Hakimi but this year it's a different story with Dumfries, his limitations are being exposed hard.

Because Hakimi actually moves forward with the ball.

It's clear as a day now that Barella isn't a leader. He is mentally fragile like most players - if the team is doing well he will excel, if the team is down like it is now, he will soak it like a sponge. He can't drag others by the collar. And this is sort of fine, you can't change this in a person.

But the body language complaining has to fucking go yesterday, that (and I hate using this word) toxic behavior is unacceptable. If we had an actual captain, he would've taken him aside after the first game he started doing that and slapped him so fucking hard his head made a full turn. You think Materazzi and Zanetti would've tolerated this back in their day? Think again.

I also fully acknowledge Barella's performance issues, but he doesn't have the best environment, our wingbacks don't cut inside at all.

I think his attitude and brozovics attitude is a huge problem in this team. From the 1st minute last night they were both waving their arms about in frustration, complaining fighting with teammates etc.
How can that be a good environment? If they were my team mates I'd have went mental long ago, and I'd fucking hate them.

I think Barella is solid player and he really runs alot and seem to care about the result, but I think he is not good enough? So if good offer comes I would sell him now when we can get proper money from him!

I really would like to see one big profile midfielder like Milinkovic-Savic or Pogba, who can really make something from nothing! Barella is too limited in every way! Frattesi could be good straight replacement to Barella and he is younger and cheaper, but bit better at defending what I have seen him play.
