Excellent * we got what we wanted at the beginning of pre-season!

45mil+5mil bonuses... So we waited 2 months just to give in to their demands
You don`t seem to understand Marotta`s game, let me break it down 4ya :datass:

1. It seems that your reported figure is a bit off, Sky says it`s €40m plus €6m bonuses which will probably stay €40m as we`re not expected to win any major trophy next year (wish we would pay that €6m in full). So that`s practically €10 less than what Cagliari were asking for, making it a success story.
2. The negotiation was necessary so that we eliminate other potential destinations [Barella rejected them] in order to:
2.a. avoid a bidding war
2.b. since we are the only one left in the race, we force them to accept payment in several installments spread in the following years
3. we got what we wanted at the beginning of pre-season: Barella training with us early on + money left for other transfers this summer. :unsure:

Inter finally have a breakthrough for Nicolò Barella, as it’s reported Cagliari are prepared to accept €40m plus €6m bonuses with spread payment.

The midfielder was linked with Roma, Napoli, Milan and more, but was always adamant he wanted to join the Nerazzurri.

After weeks of negotiations, Sky Sport Italia claim this evening’s summit was decisive. It’s believed Cagliari are lowering the asking price from €50m to €40m plus €6m in bonuses.

Above all, the Sardinians are prepared to open up and allow the spread of payment over several years, so it'll be a paid loan with obligation to buy.

Sky maintain Inter hope to have Barella tied down within 48 hours.
It seems that we`ve accelerated, Conte wants to have his starter ASAP. He is well worth the money and now that we agreed on the valuation, Marotta is making sure we can pay it in installments. Great deal, this leaves more cash to spend this summer! But let`s not get carried away yet.
we can go for another midfield signing (codename SMS).
&
SMS, Lukaku. Yes .
While I agree he would be the best add-on to our midfield, I`d recommend we don`t set expectations this high that SMS will be bought. He is being linked to Man Utd and P$G, I`m not sure he is the one our budget will be spent on [rather think Lukaku].

It's simple:

1. His club doesnt want to sell him;
2. He's 21;
3. He already starts for Italy;
4. His contract with Cagliari is not expiring any time soon.

Apparently his contract is 1.8 million a year which is pretty solid.

“Courtiers” who were used to banquet at our club during the Moratti era are still around and we can't expect them to give Suning and the new management a favourable treatment in a negotiation (they all have their own personal reasons, on top of the obvious), but our fellow interista Giulini has tried literally everything in his power to squeeze more money and make it difficult for us to buy Barella.

At least Petrachi called his bluff and exposed him (as a result, I heard Cagliari's president acted like a troll on Twitter with his verified account, posting funny emoticons in response to Inter fans who were insulting him. These times we're living in).

Anyway, it's time to close the deal once and for all - and the “onerous loan+obligation” formula would help our mercato.

Lukaku could be brought in 2 installments. 35m each. And Sensi, Barella is basically 15m fee this season (5m loan Sensi , 10m fee for Barella) if we could sell Dalbert, Radja, Icardi we could structure similar deal for SMS. 25m first deposit, next year 25m + Gags or whoever Inzaghi might like. Marotta has had a hard on for SMS for a couple of years now. All we know is that there will be a bomb signing im sure.

As of yesterday, Lazio stated that the only formal offer they got so far was from PSG. Lotito is absolutely insane if he thinks that winning Coppa validates the 90m price of whatever crazy sum he has come up with, and I don't think PSG will go for it either unless some kind of swap deal is included.
I rate Barella higher than him and even Barella is overpriced by about 10 mil. Midfielder drought is dictating the prices but that won't last forever. I would like nothing more than for Lazio to have another shit season. They need a reality check and it likely won't take too long for one.

@Dario, the bonuses can be linked to many things such as appearances, how far we reach in CL etc. It's not just about trophies.

I would say that given this summer's market prices, Barella deal is a solid one. It doesn’t make sense to say that Barella is overpriced because there is a shortage of midfielders. This should affect the prices. Supply is obviously one of the two main things to drive the prices.

Many here are comparing Barella's price to a standard that simply is not true any more. Forty-five is new twenty-five.

Eh, we only got partway fleeced. Price could have been lower if we dragged this out all summer, but Conte wants him for pre-season and I'm glad Conte is getting him.

Di Marzio - Now it is Inter and Cagliari that are - in fact - constructing the operation from a contractual and financial point of view. The parties are looking for the best formula that will probably be that of the loan with the obligation of redemption for a transaction that will be, in total, 45 million plus bonuses: for the closing of the deal it will take another couple of days, but it works so that the Cagliari midfielder will soon become a new Inter player.

most expensive player Inter ever bought (let's put the inflation and everything aside)

I'd rather Inter's most expensive buy be Nicolò Barella than Joao "too shit for West Ham" Mario.

If the valuation is indeed 50m€ with bonuses and 45m€ is the fixed price, I want the redemption to be pushed to 2021 summer.
