Im suprised to see that thread wasnt opened up on the lockout that has just finished in the NHL. Comeon my fellow Hockey fans, we gotta breatth life into this topic! For me being a Canadian, I enjoy to watch the sport as it was founded here :D. Im a big fan of the Toronto Maple Leafs, as much as I am a fan of Inter Milan :proud: . Anyways what do you guys think about the New Entry draft, and the salary cap they got for the players?. And how Sidney Crosby is going to the Pittsburgh Penguins?.

Coming from Ottawa (Or anywhere else in Canada) I OfCourse hate the leafs. I've been in numerous arguments with Leafs fans who think their team is the best every year.

I am a Sens fan, but I like all the Canadian teams (excluding TML) equally. I think the new system is fair for small-market teams like the Canadian ones, but it is disadvantageous to Ottawa now since we have a wealthy owner.

I'd love for Sidney to go to the Penguins and play with LeMieux for a bit. He could be what the NHL needs, I haven't seen any young stars have a big impact as of late. As good as Kovalchuk and Heatly are, they are not dominant.

iam thrasher fan

kowalchuk is my favorite

in croatia there is no nhl on tv, i only check results on internet, now iam in usa and i cant wait nhl to start.

i saw just few nhl games, much more i saw world cups and olymipcs

i disagree with hamed, kowalchuk maybe still isnt dominant but heatley is.

atlanta have very young talented team, in a year or 2 they will be big big club

other club i support are mightyducks and devils, but i just like them because of badge and i allways picked them on nhl computer game, but atlanta is my no.1 team

That was a good one! :dielaugh:

Interesting to see how the teams will build their teams now. My favourite team is Colorado Avalanche and i´m worried that either Forsberg or Foote will go. So sad...

Under contract players are: Rob Blake, Bob Boughner, Ossi Väänänen, Joe Sakic, Steve Konowalchuk, Ian LaPerriere, Antti Laaksonen.

Three defenders and four forwards. :)

Ya, Rob Blake and Peter Foresburg are two of my favourite players. Alongside Leimuex, Darcy Tucker, Tie Domi, and Ed Belfour

Good old Leafs fans, a victory against the Sens is always a festival for you. Anyway, Martin is gone, and we won't play defensive anymore!

Well I'm so glad Hockey is back you have no idea, I'm a huge Montreal Canadiens fan, I love them to death. Very excited about getting #5 in the draft and gainey signed some guys before the lockout and we have lots of money and i'm sure we'll resign our key guys and sign a few real good players. Ottawa looks like they will be a real Contender and I think they'll win the President's trophy. Leafs fans sorry but this is not your year you will finish 6th or 7th and exit first round in the playoffs. Your players are overpayed and old. This year you will not be able to buy a good team due to the precious cap. TORONTO TORONTO VAFFANCULO!!!

Roberto for pres :star: :star: :star:

Yeah, sorry about the Leafs too. This is not the year - hmm, where did I hear that before? - so for the 38 straight year, there will be no parade!

I think the Canadiens have a good chance, but Theodore must have a solid year like he had couple of seasons ago. And they still need that goal-poacher that they've lacked for a while.

Panthers fan myself, and when the lock-out came, they had signed some good experienced players, whom now are more or less too old.

You just can't tell which teams and players that will be good right now. Free-agents and the wage-roof certainly will be an obsticle for some teams.

Panthers? Hmm, I don't recall an NHL team called the Panthers. I only know of the Carolina Panthers in NFL. Did you mean Carlonia Hurricanes?

Edit:Oh damn! I just remember the Florida team is called Panthers :D

Anyway, they got Jacques Martin the ex-Sens coach. While he is good at making the team finish 3-4 in the league, he is inept in the playoffs. He reminds me of Cuper, very defensive in nature. The Sens had offensive juggernauts, but he still preferred to play dump-and-chase.

However, the Panthers have Luongo if I'm not mistaken. The Sens never had a good Goalie, and to play defensive like Martin it would help to have a good Goalie.

THE SENATORS WILL NEVER WIN THE STANLEY CUP!. Even with Martin gone the Senators will still be the senators. Yes I do admit that they are a good team even though they are Toronto's Rivals, but they do not have the ability to win the cup. They do not play as a team! take Alfredon and Hossa for example ( damn Hossa when he injured Berard :fero:  ) they always try to take the Glory and be the star of their team. If they play like a team then maybe just maybe they'll beat us.

Let the player signing begin, its going to be the craziest August in NHL History. The draft saturday was pretty exciting, I was hoping Montreal would draft Brule and I'm not entirely sure why we drafted Price the goaltender #5 but I love/trust Bob Gainey so i'm not too upset. Also 2 Sudbury Wolves drafted in the top 15 :D #4 Benoit Pouliot(great player) and #12 Marc Staal he was our best Blue Liner and he is a real solid player.

It sure will... :stress:

First blow for me as an Avs fan. Foote [13 years at Quebec/Colorado organization] inks three-year deal with Columbus. :depress:

Next one to go could be Forsberg. If not him, then Hejduk and Tanguay. So sad to see "my" team to be ripped apart.

Florida signed Gary Roberts and Joe Nieuwendyk from Toronto. I'm especially pleased with the latter who is still a very usefull player and one of the best players on the face-off.

Florida might have a decent team when the season starts, as just a few of their great players are free-agents. The biggest name of course being Roberto Luongo, whom should be no problem to re-sign. Same goes for Bouwmeester.

Florida biggest weakness will be Martin. I watched this guy for 7-8 years, and he is afraid to attack, almost a carbon copy of Cuper. He may change now, he can be really great if he changes his mind.

I was surprised to see Roberts and Nieuwendyk leave Toronto, I thought they'd stick around. The leafs fans used to eat my ears out with talks of how loyal Roberts is!

What a freakin´ summer for me! What a nightmare!

At first Vieri got boot and joined Milan. Then Foote didn´t resign with Avs and joined Columbus instead. Today Forsberg signed with Flyers [I despise Flyers the most!!!]. And Inter signed Solari and £igo, £igo for all people! :thumbsdo:

Three of my absolute favorite players has left and how many invividual favorites are left for me, not many i can tell you. What next, J Zanetti joins Liverpool/R€al?

No wonder i´m sad/mad/depressed all the time. Sometimes [too often] being a sports fan really sucks!!! :depress:

Maybe I am the last person you want to hear from :p But do what I do, I never get attached to one player, I try and resist that and just follow a team.

But what a s-h-o-c-k-e-r! I honestly thought Forsberg was Av's for life! I mean he was with them since the old days, but I guess he went back to where it all should've begun (Forsberg was in the package Les Nordiques got for trading Lindros to the flyers.)

And Foote, why would he go to Columbus. The Av's are a great team, with a great tradition. I am sad because money talks, and I see loyalties being shelved for few extra bucks.

My bet is on the flyers now. They got Hatcher and Forsberg, and with JR, DesJardins and a healthy LeClair, they could do some damage.

Well, now I learned that LeClair has left Philly and that JR might have to leave. The flyers have too many Centers, and JR seems to be the odd man out. I love JR, and I think any team would be lucky to have him!

I totally love the new NHL, it's so competitive. I am so glad all the Canadian teams are doing great as well, they no longer have to watch other teams steal all the big-name free-agents.

NHL can be watchable again!
