It helped having one of Makelele/Essien/Mikel running about and letting him roam freely up front without any important defensive duties.

Barella has to run for three in the middle, moving up and down, pass, cross, shoot, score.. Come on, he cannot do everything perfectly every time. You can call him a fuck up for the Kessie foul that led to their goal, but that shot wasn't that easy to pull off as most of the area was covered. Otherwise, he'd end up overthinking and missing like Lautaro earlier.

Barella doesn't often miss, not did he just miss a penalty before this chance. Lautaros chance probably easier as well.

I don't expect goals from him. If only he played more disciplined. Loses the ball quite often and his passes are not accurate. If he scores, of course it's a bonus, but I rate him for his midfield commandment which he was providing last season.
