Comparing him to Acquafresca...
1. Acquafresca was never the star of the youth teams like Destro was for Italy for example. He did great at U21 level, but not much elsewhere.
2. Acquafresca's career has been slightly ruined by the fact that he has been used as a make-shift in so many deals. And who knows, he might bounce back.
What the issue with Destro is, that we must do if we should buy him, there is no point bringing him to Inter before 2013. He is starting to look like a good goalscorer this season, then it would be good to see how he does when he is expected to score a lot of goals, in the same team he was in last season. And already when buying him we'd know he wouldn't have much of a chance, Milito, I doubt will leave next season.
I always felt we were completely wrong to give 50% of his contract away. There was and still is more reason to believe he'll turn into a big team goalscorer than become an average Serie A striker. He had great record for our youth team, he had great record for Italy's youth teams. Now he is doing well in Serie A.
And mind you, he is 20. We basically gave him up when he was 18 and banging in goals left and right on youth level... very bad decisions imo, even if we did need to get Ranocchia in. Makes me afraid for the futures of the likes of Daniel Bessa too... we already gave away half of Crisetig's contract to Parma too.
But I hope he will not go to Juve. That'd be a disaster.
