What's with the people's reaction here as if we have signed a 40 year old Tommaso Rocchi?
Look, Politano is certainly not a world beater, but he's not an average player either. He's a good player, technically capable, and not a one dimensional player like what Candreva has become. Plus, he's a also goalscoring threat, something that our midfield department severely lacks. Serie A proven, knows the league well and doesn't need time to settle in. Italian, and should be at the peak of his career, at the golden age of 24.
If the reason most people here hate him is just because he doesn't do flashy shit like 30 consecutive stepovers or any sort of showboating crap like fucking Gabigol does, then I don't even know what to say. Politano is a no nonsense player and a professional. He's definitely an upgrade over the current one dimensional cross spamming Candreva that we have now. I don't even mind him as a starter as long as he delivers, gets the job done, and plays with a purpose.
I understand some of the people's disappointment here that we should have gone for Chiesa who is younger, more talented, and has every potential to be world class. But let's be realistic here, with that hefty price tag Fiorentina set on him, it's something that we can't afford, at least for now.
Berardi? Great player and very skillful, but also has been inconsistent for the past few seasons and a bit of a diva too, plagued with disciplinary issues and sometimes appears to be disinterested. I'd rather have Politano in that sense.
Give him a chance for fuck's sake before ruling him out.
