Ibra more complete than Eto´o? You´ve got to be kidding mate. I won´t claim any of the two is the better player overall, because both have quite different characteristics, but let´s just say Samy´s track record even back then proved that he was at least just as prolific a goal-scorer as Ibra was, and he was also a great assist provider, too (just of the top of my head, in the winning 05-06 CL campaign he was the top assistman).

Yet, Mou actually played him out of position as an inside forward most of his first season, and he adapted extremely quickly. Even though we´ll never know, it is quite unlikely that Ibra would even agree to play in that role, and even less likely he would excel in it.

All that undermines your take about Eto´o being less complete as a player. Eto´o was not in any way inferior to Ibrahimovic, he was a like-for-like exchange that even back then everybody considered a total steal, considering that we got a twice CL winner and the most recent CL final goalscorer for a flashy striker who failed to deliver in CL + 45 mil or whatever we got on top.

I said "maybe" which means some circumstances could give him an edge over Eto'o, but it's still very difficult to compare their influences since both had incredible impact on team's success. We played different style with Ibra compared to 09/10 season with new arrivals in attack.

My point was something else though. But even that, as much as I can't stand Ibra for his shitty character, on his prime I think he's slightly better than Eto'o.

Eto'o was more of a team player while Ibra was more of an individual brilliance.

That first touch attempt to keep the ball under control after a long pass was world class. Can't remember exactly whom delivered that pass but Arna's touch was beautiful.

He's very strong and also pretty good with the ball at the same time. I thought he was robbed a few fouls from the referee. That asshole was annoying with stupid calls throughout the match, especially in second half.

Such a tough competition in attack these days, and we haven't even used Alexis yet. Damn.

I don't think that he is bad. He lost couple of long balls, but otherwise he did ok. He links well with his teammates and he working hard when he is on the pitch. Bad, is something like Correa, who is absolutely useless in almost all aspects of the game, except 1,2 flashes every season.

As long he has some presence, it's better than nothing. And presence he did have.

I just don't expect him to be a difference maker. I'm sure that will show it's ugly fangs when we will be in need of a goal and he comes on.

I don't understand why do people think he is not playing good enough?
He was even a better target man than Thuram, though it is not exactly Thuram's role, cause we play more direct counter with Thuram and with Arnautovic it is more transits to build up in terms of transitions, also how is it fair to expect him to score so many goals when his play time is less than half as others?

So far all 3 of our strikers that played, did a tremendous job of their own, Lautaro didn't even had a chance to shoot in the last game, but did you see his touches and passes?

Also Arnautovic could have more shooting opportunity if he wasn't playing selfless in the past 4 games, as far as I can tell, this team is united and not self served, I am really excited to see how far we can go.

We got the quality, we got the depth, we got teamwork.

Also you think it is a coincident that our midfielders scored 4 out of the 5 goals last game and LM and him has no shots?

We never predicted 15 goals for him. 8-9 if he gets more than 10-15 minutes playing time. But since Thuram is doing great so far, Arna will be the third option with limited game time.

I think the expectation in terms of goals should be relative to how much he plays. I mean, he's played 82 minutes so far and has 1 assist. That's less than one full match. I don't have issues with his performances. As I mentioned in another thread, half of his appearances were in games where we were 'controlling' the match moreso than actually playing with our usual attacking patterns. You can see that most of our substitutions in those games (Arnautovic/Augusto) didn't have much of an impact as they didn't need to or we didn't attack in the way that we usually do.

I assume that the plan, if he's fit, is for him to start some of the next Serie A matches before the international break. We'll see how that goes.
