Oh really? Funny, how this dude was a mistery to all of us, even for me. I don't remember one member who said that he is sure Maicon will be great etc. I can be wrong, but my memory tells me people said things like "He will be good as Javier's sub" etc.

If you don't believe me you can go and check for yourself.

Hell, I'll even give you first three of the thread:

i hope your right

What a brilliant piece of football business. I'm seriously impressed by whoever at Inter has made this deal. He seems to be talented but we get him on a loan whereby if he is a success we keep him and if he is a bidone we get rid of him. I bet Twente, particularly the fans, aren't happy. Welcome to Inter Marko, best of luck and a speedy recovery.

Did anyone welcome Javier Zanetti's signing with open arms all those years ago? I would say he was pretty much unproven back then and I think even Moratti has admitted they took a chance on him. It's always well worth the while taking a chance on someone who seems to have the potential of Arnautovic especially in a deal like this. Yes, he will probably take time to make his mark and I wouldn't imagine him taking over from Eto'o and Milito anytime soon but who knows. With Balotelli and Arnautovic at least we do have future potential.

Stop putting words into my mouth. I never said that anyone said Maicon will be great. You're simply twisting what i said.

I said Maicon had proven much more than Arna which is true. Just look at Maicon's history before he joined Inter, and compare it to that of Arna's.

Maicon's situation is not comparable to Arna's. Posting all those quotes served no purpose.

And who says he will be like Zanetti? He could easily end up like Recoba.

Can you share with us what did he prove, exactly ?

I agree he did more. I have the problem with this "much" part though.

Maicon proved himself for more than one and a bit seasons.

Maicon proved himself in more than 1 league.

Maicon proved himself in European competition.

Maicon had caps for Brazil since 2003, at a time when the RB spot was very competitive (fair enough, Arna has caps, but not too hard to get caps for Austria).

I wasn't attacking you I was just adding to what you said in your post. Sorry if it seemed I was arguing with you but I was agreeing by adding a further argument to your cause. Forza noi!

You miss my point. I'm not saying how he will end up, I was saying no-one thought Il Capitano would be a legend when we signed him. It could go either way for Arnautovic but with this deal we either gain or we don't lose.

Mourinho wants a smaller squad and this doesn't help.

To not waste time(I still don't agree with you, but I have life to attend to) fuck the Maicon example.

Switch Maicon with Cambiasso, who was just like Maicon not expected to be what he is now.

Unless you think Cambiasso did a lot more from a bench(and a very rare one) than Arna too ?

haha, of course Maicon proved more at the time we bought him...HE WAS 5 YEARS OLDER!!!

Would you rather wait until Marko is 25 and pay triple what we did if he ends up to be a great player?

but the chance of him succeeding at Inter would be 3x higher :D If someone is unproven of course there are always doubters, plenty in fact. And of course there are always optimistics like Luka and Vitomins. To me, it's more about our scouts who seem to have done well recently so yeah there's hope.

But if it was up to me, I'd invest in a 20yo mid for the same money. We can afford to miss out on a striker star (assuming Arna isnt an Ibra or Henry), we have plenty in the making. For the causes of our "mid lacking tradition", be it "not buying superstars" or "buy stars that flop", we definitely have not tried "buying youth and wait".

Now there's a great idea. Invest in players we need. A young mid and CB. No disrespect to Arna... he is now an Inter player and i wish him well, but there are other priorities at hand.

Excuse me but i didn't make the initial comparison with Maicon. Luka did. Please be more careful before you post.

Why forget the Maicon example? I suppose it's because you now realise it was a ridiculous comparison.

Cambiasso was known to be an excellent talent for a number of years prior to his arrival.

Try again.
