Fun fact: he gratuated Real Madrid's academy, but become known at their rivals.

Inter are confident about signing Mario Hermoso on a free transfer in the summer, Gazzetta noted, despite the interest from West Ham, Aston Villa and Juventus.

The Spaniard has reportedly ‘convinced everyone’ in the Nerazzurri management.

Atletico have been trying to reduce their wage bill. Hermoso currently earns 4.5M and Atletico offered him less for a renewal. He's in his prime, so seems logical to expect more. This is why Inter or Juventus could sign him on a 5M deal.
During his five-year spell under Diego Simeone, Hermoso has grown into one of the most highly-rated defenders in La Liga. But he seems closer to leaving his homeland for the first time than pledging his future to Atletico, even though Simeone sees him as a vital first-team member.
That kind of pedigree certainly recommends him. If the club are paying De Vrij what, 4.5M net/year? Then it makes sense to offer 5M to 28 years Hermoso.

Remember how Inter were ready to welcome 33 years old Cesar Azpilicueta / Nacho Fernández? This seems an upgrade, Skriniar compensation as @PHM1605 suggested.

Opportunity: Romano did not announce it yet, I'm just anticipating Sky based on recent transfers Inter have made.

Atletico Madrid have already begun searching for Hermoso’s replacement, which is an indication that they don’t expect him to sign a new deal. Las Palmas’ Mika Marmol has been linked, while it’s also been reported that they would like to sign Barcelona veteran Inigo Martinez.
I believe this is an indication that he signed with another club.

Pasquale Guarro has reported that the Nerazzurri aren’t interested in the defender despite his availability on a free transfer.

Inter do not want to explore the possibility of signing the defender, with the club not considering the possibility of signing a defender for now.

It is stated that the reason why Inter have been linked with Hermoso is because the intermediary who offered the Spaniard to Italian clubs is someone who has worked with the Nerazzurri closely in the past. He did speak to Inter about the Atleti defender, but Inter made it clear that they aren’t interested.
How reliable is Guarro? 🤔

It would make sense if Acerbi is leaving. Don't know if he could play in the centre but would be again a great signing on a free transfer just like Zielinski.

Speaking to CalcioNapoli24, Hermoso’s agent Inaki Espiuza described the Nerazzurri as a “top, top club.”
“Serie A can certainly be a possibility in view of the next few years,” he said.

“Inter are also a top, top club,” the agent said. “They went out of the Champions League because they didn’t kill it off in the first leg. It’s never easy to face Atletico Madrid in the Champions League.”
Also said that A Serie A can certainly be a possibility in view of the next few years.

Inter “Optimistic” About Signing Mario Hermoso

Spanish outlet AS report that Inter are extremely keen on signing Hermoso.

Given the player’s age and experience at the top level, the Nerazzurri see him as a perfect fit for their project.

Moreover, Hermoso has played some of his best football in a back three system at Atletico.

That would make the 28-year-old a natural candidate to bolster the depth in depth within Inter’s squad, considering that they also play with a back three system.

AS report that Inter have already been in contact with Hermoso’s entourage.
I know, not the best source of information 😅

The Nerazzurri have made clear to the player that they would like to sign him this summer.

And the outlet furhter report that Hermoso would be very open to the idea of joining Inter.

Hermoso would like to play in Serie A. And Inter would represent the opportunity for the Spaniard to fight for trophies over the next few years.

AS report that Inter have offered Hermoso a four year contract with wages of €5 million net per season.

The Spanish outlet anticipate that that would be enough to convince the Spanish international.
If true, seems like a done deal 😎

This could be just a noise by his agent to get a better transfer or a better contract from Atletico.

The centre-back turns 29 in June, so although he will be a free agent when his contract expires that month, he brings with him a lot of baggage including a current muscular injury sustained in mid-March.

According to Calciomercato.com, Hermoso’s agents offered him to both Milan and Juventus as an addition to their squads for the summer.

However, the Rossoneri would prefer to go for someone younger in their defence, while the Bianconeri consider Riccardo Calafiori of Bologna a more suitable target.
Seems like his agent was just shopping him around
Inter and Napoli also baulked at the requested salary of €5m per season, especially now that the Growth Decree has expired, which would’ve allowed the clubs to save circa 50 per cent on taxes for a player brought in from abroad.

Aston Villa are widely considered to be the favourites to sign Hermoso, as they can guarantee the wages he is asking for and an experience in the Premier League.
