Messi just switched to 10, he played over 100 matches with 19, so it was a trademark for him until Ronaldinho left.

The keyword there is WAS.

Obviously this kind of matter is way way out of my hands but if I could choose I'd like:

7 - Quaresma (should he come back, unlikely)
8 - Ibrahimovic
9 - Balotelli (if Cruz leaves, again unlikely)
10 - Maybe Motta, I'm still uncertain

Cruz is leaving. Quaresma aint coming.

Balotelli-7, Milito-9 and lets keep 10 for Cassano.

I'd like to see Mario wear no.7, I just like that number for a striker, not too many strikers wear it.

U gotta be fuking kidding me.
If Motta is our #10 next season we should just stop playing in Europe

Don't forget a shirt number is merely a number, not a responsibility (except maybe Facchetti's #3) and has really nothing to do with how our players play.

Do you think Ibra would be any less amazing if he wore a 65? Or do you think because Quaresma is 77 he is eleven times the player Figo is..

Adriano was our #10 and he was AWOL for 3 seasons.

:wallbang::wallbang::wallbang:

It's just a number

Also Messi choose 19 at the time because of the 10.

I actually dislike it when a youngster abandoned his first numbers in order to get better ones. I like it when I can associate them with their original ones; like Iniesta with 24, Messi with 19 or Balo with 45.

They choose these numbers at first because their favorite number is still taken. Ballo i think he wants 9, Messi was the same, 10. But yah if he had chosen a number i wouldnt change it to the traditional number i wanted at the beginning, i would continue with my number because its "MY" Number so its different.

Feel the same way. It's so ridiculously difficult to do this on FM :D

I don't play FM so I don't get what you mean? Do you mean that the players also request a new, nicer number in the game?

In FM, players have a prefered number, but you do not have to assign them that number...

No, it's just difficult when you have a youngster that will enter the starting line-up. He has always had a high number when he was young and when he is starting material you must face the dilemma of keeping his number or give him a new one.

Casiraghi bets on Balotelli
Wednesday, 03 June 2009 16:43:28
[FOTO Wednesday, 03 June 2009 16:43:28]

ROME - Pierluigi Casiraghi wants only one thing at the UEFA Under-21 Championship. "We have to win. Nothing else," said the Italy Under-21 coach ahead of the tournament, which kicks off mid-June in Sweden.

The Azzurrini squad includes a wealth of young striking talent, including Acquafresca, Paloschi, Giovinco and Inter's Balotelli. "Mario has been decisive for Inter, I hope he is decisive for us too," said Casiraghi. "He has great qualities and he can make the difference. It's right to count on him."

Casiraghi also had a mention for Inter's Davide Santon, who has been called up to the men's national team for the upcoming international friendly against Northern Ireland. "It will be a great chance for him," he said. "Lippi has been very straightforward. He needed a right-back and he chose him, knowing that we have abundant cover in that role."

I hope he'll start there. He'll be great for them.

Anyway, I'll be pissed if Lippi doesn't call Santon up for the confederation cup. He'll just make Santon miss both Euro U21.

Stefan, there were reports that new Samp coach Del Neri doesn't want Cassano in his team. Any links to that one?

Don't have the links but dell nieri and cassano don't get a long. Cassano wrote about him in his book. Dell Nieri also said he hopes cassano stays but then leonardo said the same things a day before milan were in madrid selling k a k a.

I think there's a good chance cassano will be here next season.

Nice to hear Mario and Cassano have a good and friendly relationship.
