That record was beaten when Inter reached the Uefa Cup final in 1994 against Salisburgo, something like 82,000 spectators (including me )

I'm not sure Mike, in order to break the record the Police and security staff need to allow people with fake tickets inside the stadium. Those numbers are far beyond the maximum number of tickets allowed to be sold.

Nope, we won against Salisburgo, 1-0 away and 1-0 at home.

We lost the final against Shalke04 a couple of years later, on penalties.

Back then the final was over 2 legs. We won the home game 1-0. And the lost it on penalties 4-1. I still remember the game as it was yesterday. Also note that we played the extra time with 10 men after Fresi was sent off.

I had to think for about half an hour what the hell Salisburgo was/is and how come so many people turned in Meazza to watch them.

You guys mean Salzburg I guess... (it's Salzburg, not Salisburgo...ok..maybe the italian name is Salisburgo..)

Back on topic with Lothar....I really liked him as a player. As a human being though and as a coach he is a waste. As a Matthäus fan I would pray to God that he never ever takes over Inter, because it would end in disaster. Really..
But as a player he was maybe among the 5 greatest midfields of the 90ies.

If you didn't have already so many good midfields, I would wish for you that ballack joins Inter. he is a real fine guy and he would suit Inter well, in fact he would suit every team well. He is real class, both on and offside the field.

Matthäus unfortunately was just class ON the field.

Yeah true, he always belittles any German NT coach other than him. But this maybe due to his fierce competitiveness, he was very upset when he was passed over time and time as NT coach, and teammates like Voller and Klinsman got the chance.

Mhh frisko how i alredy said, i could show u in the germen sites they write him Matthäus so this is how u originaly spell his name, but since an ä dosen t exsist in italien ore english u can argue about it.
Anyway in german you would write him Matthaeus if u coulden t use an ä.

Oh I see Adriano@10, thanks for that. As you probably know Italians and Germans aren't the best of friends, that why I've never seen Matthaus spelled with an 'e' before.
