Retired...

Leicester were relegated to Division One ( now Football League Championship) in 2004, and with Izzet out of contract he was available on a Bosman free transfer. Izzet wanted to continue playing in the Premiership and the Turkish national team, leading to him signing for Premiership side Birmingham City in June 2004. His two seasons at Birmingham were ruined by injury and he was barely involved in the club's relegaton in 2005/2006. Because of his persistent injury struggles he announced his retirement in June 2006 at the age of 31.
