The thing is Lukaku is constantly covered by opposition defence. He is our target man. Everyone know it. If oponent want to disrupt our play, they will cover Lukaku first. Lautaro has a freedom to be whereever he wants. Naturally he should get more shooting opportunities.

That would be true if he had Barella and Hakimi on his side of the pitch and if Lukaku moved further to the left and exchange positions.

But it's not the case.

Lautaro has to play with Ashley Young and Vidal or Gagliardini, while his main role is to be far from Lukaku and the rest so that the defense does not add pressure to our attacking outlet. Which is based on a Hakimi-Barella-Lukaku trident in a way.

Lukaku
Your fun fact of the day is that if you take away penalties, Lukaku only has one more league goal than Martinez.

Lukaku is an essential part of our buildup play, you give a ball to Lukaku, he keeps it, the team can move forward. You give a ball to Lautaro, he falls over or takes a horrible first touch and looses it. Lautaro is basically a Pazzini with worse converstion rate.

He needs a killer instinct, it's painful to watch him waste this big chances every match.
He's a great football player, but as striker you need to score the easy ones, simple as that. That's why i personally always wanted here a backup striker like Quagliarella, they know how to score.

Actually a really good point  I'd quite like to see Lautaro on the right for a couple of games.

I'm trying to get my football back :(

In all seriousness now, I think I recall Lautaro playing on the right more often last season but maybe it's memory tricks.

I'd wager that Toro scores more goals next season than Lukaku l, whether they're here or not. Fully convinced Toro's lack of execution is mental...new kid, one wife, new contract etc

I won't go into quoting several posters, just going to clarify as best as I can:

I didn't say that other skills/traits are not important, I just said that scoring is what matters for him the most. If he had scored all of his 101% chances (you know, the ones that it takes more skill to miss), and some (35% to 40%) of the other great chances, we wouldn't be having this convo at all. We wouldn't complain about anything.

He does most of the other things good. He sucks at scoring goals, he sucks at 1 on 1 with the gk. Not saying he is not good, saying that he sucks at scoring goals, which is serious.

That's why I said, for the rest of the thing he does, we can have a better solution, a less wanna be insta influencer type of guy with a trademark goal celebration, who will be much cheaper and better for the team guess (now the last part of this sentence is quite debatable, you can go either way and you could be right or wrong).

But someone like Palacio at his prime would be better for Lukaku and Inter than Lautaro at the moment.

The funny thing about Lautaro is that if he improves statistically just 15-20% in front of the goal, he is easily on of the best forwards in the world...

At least this is how I see the situation...

Are you implying that if he had several wifes he would score more?

You may have a point here but keeping him with Lukaku isn't a good idea. One of them would have to be sold in the summer.

Lauti ran his ass off again. One miss in the first half but not unforgivable. Deserved the goal and happy for him. Hopefully that means he finds his form back. We need him at 100% when we face Milan Merda next week

I thought he was fantastic today. Shame Barella blocked that shot in the 2nd half. If he scores that then wow.

Yeah it was an amazing performance by Lautaro again. Pressing and the movement, good plays with the ball. I want to see him score a real goal soon, like he did against Benevento. Derby will do, Lauti.

I'm happy Lukaku passed the ball and didn't go for the hattrick. Shit like that makes me like the team a lot more.

Good game. Glad he's improving his open net finishing as well.

It's funny that open net finishing is a thing that a professional footballer needs to improve on.

Open net finishing. Damn. But yeah, it can be applied to Lautaro.

Absolutely loved his performance against Lazio though. A lot less selfish and a lot calmer, while maintaining his usual intensity. Forza Lautaro.
