The good thing is it's not career ending (it used to be). The most important choice you make is the doctor, as you need someone experiences who's willing to work with you for months afterwards and be committed to getting you back to play again.
The surgery is the easy part, what you need to focus on is rehab.
It's going to be a long and painful process, boring at many times, and definitely the hardest thing you have done in your life. You need to decide now if you have the heart to do it.
Every case is unique, but in general you should reach 90% of your previous abilities in 1 to 2 years. Some say you can never reach 100%, some say they are better than they were before.
Your speed shouldn't be affected because it comes from your Hamstrings. The problem is getting your knee to move. Are you ready for 2 years of very very hard work to achieve that?
