Failed completely in the Premier League. No idea how but he was disastrous
To be honest he didn't really fail as an individual. Koulibaly was part of a really bad team, dysfunctional from top to bottom. A team with no clear identity, 4 different coaches, and horrible performances throughout the year which led to pressure on the team and bad morale. Not exactly the ideal situation when you're trying to adjust to a new league.

Don't have one.

You could have said the same thing about lukaku before he came here. The point is, the only way we can get proven quality players as long as we have these owners, is through these types of circumstances, where players like him become surplus in a big team or have a bad season, so I think we should be more than willing to take that risk.

No denying that but still was really surprising to see him struggle so much. Best defender in the Serie A for like 5-6 years imo

I'm skeptical about this transfer after such a weak season of his. On paper a reinforcement for our team but I wonder if it will be the case on the field.

Walter Samuel had a disaster at Madrid but was magnificent when he joined us.
KK is 31 not 35. He will be fine

This would be the best case scenario. We'd be set for the next few years. Maybe buy a young centre back like Bissek or Solet to fill in for Koulibaly when he's old

Samuel was by no means a disaster at Real Madrid.

They didn't want him that much and he had a high salary. He also occupied a vital non-EU spot for them and they wanted to bring Robinho and Julio Baptista over.

Perez wanted to clear the squad and made horrendous mistakes from 2003 to 2009. He was changing coaches more often than Moratti back then.

Cambiasso, Samuel and Figo were luckily for us three of them. Could have added Solari there, too.

If anything Samuel was one of the few decent performers of that horrible Real Madrid team.
We were all rather surprised that he was available so soon.

It's not just that. It's that we need a RCB and we're not sure Koulibaly can be effect in that role. And his salary is quite high, even if we pay only half of it.

My only real reservation about Koulibaly is the wage. We simply cannot pay him as a top player. I don’t like that he’s 31, but for a center back these days (especially at inter), that isn’t that old. One bad season doesn’t erase his body of work.

For few weeks/months and reports are going to sound like these:

Inter wants Koulibaly
Koulibaly wants Inter
Inter is (very) close to Koulibaly
Koulibaly is willing to take a paycut to join Inter
Chelsea and Inter discussing Onana+Koulibaly+Lukaku+Other Chelsea deadwoods
It's either Koulibaly for Inter or DDA extends for another year.

Yes because I believed one bad/sub par or whatever you want to classify it didn't turn one of the best defenders while he was at Roma into a mediocre player.
Same feeling regarding KK for me.

Koulibaly success at Inter depends on his mental attitude. If he is determined to get back to being a top player, then he will at Inter. If he feels like he has achieved all he wanted & continues his pre-retirement lifestyle, he will play like he played at Chelsea - a disaster.

I'm willing to bet that if we get him, we will see the Koulibaly of Napoli. My only doubt is whether he can adapt to a 3 man defence, he looked to out of worts at Chelsea. Specially when he played LCB. Maybe CCB will suit him more, in which case its Koulibaly or De Vrij, not both. Coz Acerbi should stay.

Koulibaly can fit to Inter easily and be much better here than what he was at Chelsea. They had a disastrous season with coaches changing left and right. No consistency. While what we have is a clear structure, playing style set in stone, everyone knows what to do. That's based on consistency. Based on having same coach for 2 seasons who continues the base work of previous coach.

I'm telling you Koulibaly won't have problems like he had at Chelsea. Maybe adjustment problems at first for a little while, but doubt even that.

Can't judge one season in the PL when Chelsea were a disaster.
