Jimmy, this is an article writte by me for Only Inter. ;) It's been a long time since I write for your website. :D

Juan Sebastian Veron has just joined Inter in a one year loan deal and there was a mixed reaction between the fans on the transfer. For me, I view this transfer as the worst that Inter has done in the past few years. I will tell you why in the next few paragraphs.

It is not a secret anymore that Veron has struggled a lot during his 3 year spell in England. Some argue that it was because his playing style doesn't suit the more aggresive English Premier League. But, Veron doesn't only struggle in EPL, he also struggled in the Champions' Leage too!!! He was no longer the old Veron. Man Utd sold him to Chelsea even though they made a big loss, just to get rid of Veron!!! And now, Chelsea, under the new Mourinho regime, has clearly dumped him. Why are we picking up rubbish??? It was as if we accept our position to be inferior to Man Utd and Chelsea by accepting a failure from them.

Veron also has a massive wage. None of us are sure how much he earns or how much do we pay him during his one year stay at Inter. But still, in this football economic crisis, we need to keep our wage bill as minimal as possible.

The biggest reason why I see this transfer as a bad one is the fact that Veron's arrival looks likely to kick one of Emre or Deki out of the starting-line-up. Veron, Deki and Emre may be able to co-exist in a diamond formation but Zac has never used that in his career. He has always used a 5-men-midfield and in it, all three of them can't play together without being placed out of position. Dejan Stankovic and Belozoglu Emre has been times better than Veron in the past few seasons, so why do we need to sacrifice one of them???

Continuity has been the constant reason why Inter has kept Alberto Zaccheroni. Now, continuty is not needed only in the coaching department but also in line-ups and formations!!! Stankovic has been great in the last few games of the season and looked very much like the missing piece in the puzzle. The midfield of Kily - Emre - CZ - Deki - JZ was just starting to gel-up. The arrival of Veron means that continuty has gone straight to the drain yet again. If Veron plays, one of the 5 players I mentioned will have to sit on the bench. The rest of his team-mate also need to adapt to Veron first. Now, didn't we buy Deki in advance so that he can adapt faster??? We can't go through another adaptation process with Veron. If we keep on having to adapt to a new player, it is the same as we need to keep on waiting for the Scudetto!!!

This may sound crazy but I hate that the deal is a loan one. If we are to take risk by changing the formation/line-up by signing Veron, we have to be confident that Veron will succeed. If we are to take the risk, we should have taken a bigger risk and that is to sign him permanently. Should Veron revived in Inter but Inter failed to win the Scudetto and finished second, Chelsea can have a rejuvenated Veron back and we would have nothing. Our formation will change yet again and the constantly benched Deki/Emre may ask to be transfered out. If Veron's transfer turns out to be a failure, we can't simply say "Return him to Chelsea". The damage he made would have already been done and may be irreversible!!!

Inter already had an abundance of players in the midfield department. Assuming that no one leaves, we would have: Emre, Deki, Almeyda, CZ, Farinos, Karagounis and Lamouchi for the central midfield. Even with this crop of player, we did not see Biava or Beati for even one bit!!! The youngster could not get into the team because there are no opportunities given on them. Dino Marino is the latest player to have emerged from Inter's famous youth system. Yet, like Beati or Biava, he will struggle to find a place in the starting line-up. The arrival of Veron only makes it worse for the youngsters. Loaning them out is a worst case scenario as 99% of the loaned players has failed to stake a claim the startine line-up. Martins wasn't loaned out. We gave him a little but sufficient minutes in 02/03 and look at him now!!!

Those were the reasons why I think the Veron transfer has been a negative one. To be honest, I can't find a counter-argument or a positive point about the transfer. For me, the only way Veron can redeem himself in my heart, is a Scudetto. Nothing less. But I truly hope and pray that Veron proves me wrong. When it's all said and done, it is Inter that matters, not Emre or Stankovic or Beati or Biava or Dino Marino. Forza Inter!!!

Veron accepted to cut his wage when agreed to join Inter, so I hope we're not paying him too much. Other than that I've also been against this transfer. I hope Veron proves us wrong, like Cruz did last fall.

There are many players there,at Inter ,what is that count is the quality of players and physical condition. We can't consider Emre-CZ-Deki at the midfield with Farinos and Lamouchi as their replecments as midfield with we could win Scudetto.Their psyhical condition isn't great,Zanetti and Emre will probably miss again half of the season.Lamouchi and Farinos even Karagounis are good maybe for few not important games but not for the starting lineup in many games in row if we want Scudetto. And the same about young players.Remember we want to win the league in Italy where plays players like Kaka,Nedved,Totti. And they almost never are injured. We can't play against them with Lam and Farinos if we want to win with them.Would Milan win Scudetto if they had to play with Helveg,Lamouchi or Brocchi at the firs lineup ?Never. But they have no injury problem with is at our club for years and they have quality replecments.

Oh I can't deci
Good article Han, but I think you are being way too negative. We have so many games next season, believe me...with injuries, suspensions, fatigue and such...everyone will get some playing time. Give him a chance before you count him out.

If Inter win the Scudetto (Not Veron just 'shine') with Veron playing a key part in it, I will be the first to say that "Veron has proved me so wrong!!!" But if we don't win it, I won't say that. Simply because I believe we have a chance at winning the tricolore badge had we continue with the current team, with the current formation and with the current players. Perhaps, even the current coach!!!

Firstly, I counter that Veron has failed in the Champions League, at least for Man United he was admirable, if not spectacular. They actually got to the semis in his 1st season with him in the side.

Secondly, this loan deal rumour was actually already touted at the start of the season (03/04 around September time, and not just to Inter). But ne got injured so that was that, but it has nothing to do with Mourinho personally discarding him.

As for the congestion in midfield, I agree, but that's more a luxury of riches problem. There are some clear dead wood that I'd cut in that position, as well as urgent backup at the back.

Actually doesn’t it mean we can end his loan deal if he is crap? So why anguish yourself mate, instead we should be performing every ritual possible to hope he does something productive this season :hopefull:

*Performs a Voodoo ritual, with a Veron doll...Right after the ceremony he casts a spell of luck on the doll*

Han I don't like your theory ,
it's just like we don't want Bobo , so if Real signs him does it mean wer'e better than them ? maybe we are ,but it doesn't mean anything .
