Branca says Jonathan will join next week.

“We have no intention of selling out big players. We could only talk about it when faced with incredible offers,” technical director Branca told Sky Sport Italia.

“Jonathan will arrive next week, but he won’t be Maicon’s replacement, because Maicon is staying as so far we haven’t received adequate offers.”

He seems tidy enough, he just needs to improve on some decision making and touches, but I admire his pace, cross and shot. However he is not as tall as Maicon, who is built physically better at 184cm, Jonathan is only 177cm, not good for corners or tracking back and making the last ditch jumping header in open play that teams like to attempt sending the cross to the back post that Maicon is very good at defending. Many RBs and LBs struggle to get to that kind of ball in transitional open play. Santon our own prodigy is notorious for suffering from that type of diabolical ball...

We need to raise funds somehow... and the cash we land from sale of the likes of Pandev, Muntari, Chivu isnt gonna allow us to afford more than two top quality talents costing 10+ million. Now that it looks like Maicon's replacement is here, his time may be up.
