I'm pretty sure it was Mancini. Mazzarri had Zanetti and Ranocchia as his captains.

You're right, it was Mancini. The summer of his only full season here he took it away from Ranocchia.

Joao Miranda will leave Inter at the end of the season, but wants to remain in Europe, it’s reported.

The Brazilian defender will be 34 in September and has been at San Siro since 2016.

His current contract is due to expire in June 2019, but according to Calciomercato.com, the centre-back will be sold before that.

Inter already have a replacement lined up, agreeing terms with Stefan de Vrij, who will be a free agent from Lazio this summer.

Miranda seemingly intends to remain in Europe for one more year and a return to Spain – where he played with Atletico Madrid – or a new experience in the Premier League are likely.

I personally really hope this is false. We obviously could use 3 decent CBs (assuming De Vrij comes), he is a very good player, there is no way we are going to make a lot of $$$ from the transfer... Basically no positives....

He is 34... and that mistake against Bologna...there will be more of them not less...he is slipping in to the old man mistakes stage tbh as is Borja...
I'd give him a bench role...but I doubt he would accept that tbh
Let's get real...there was only one JZ who was still a machine at 40

I don´t know why he would want to leave. He seems comfortable here, no top team would give him starting minutes and no other team would give him the wages we´re giving him till 2019. I think he´ll run out his contract and go to Brazil next year.

C'mon, it's just one mistake... I think it's very myopic to judge him based on this. He's still having a very decent season. As long as he does not make constant mistakes, we really do need to keep him. Especially with CL we could really use 3 CBs and rotation, it works e.g. with Kompany in City. Despite this, I know you're reluctant this idea but the possibility of having Skriniar, Miranda and De Vrij is still there...

Hopefully this is just media bullshit. Keeping Miranda till 2019 is a no brainer. Even if de Vrij arrives, it makes sense to have Miranda as first back up than Ranocchia or Lopez. Having someone like Miranda in training can help Skriniar and de Vrij a great deal too - one of the reasons Skriniar has been so good at Inter is playing alongside and learning from Miranda.

Correct me if I am wrong, but isn't Ranocchia's contract ending this summer? That would be the more logical way to cut wages in the defence. Ranocchia earns close to 5m gross, as compared to Miranda's 6m gross.

If we are in Champions league it doesn’t make sense to get rid of Miranda. Also how much can we realistically get for him? Other then trade him to a lower level team + money for a player. Would he accept Sassulo, Fiorentina, Sampdoria? He isn’t going to a top tier champions team in a top 4 league.

We fkd up loaning Murillo for 2 years with a buy obligation. Should have kept a 24 year old. Especially for 13 million. You can say I am saying that as a Colombian but have you been seeing him in the Spanish league? He needed game time. Should have been loaned to a mid table Italian team for game time and if he still sucked then sold him for $1 who cares.

Captain of Brazil. Still he can still play for them at the next Copa America. I mean their coach has called chinese based players so not a deal breaker.

I mean we won’t get much for him. 1 year left on his contract and at 34

If he does indeed leave, I think this is much more on him wanting to be a sure starter. If De Vrij arrives, Miranda knows the Dutch will partner up with Skriniar and he'll be left on the bench, as Spalletti doesn't seem keen on a three-man defence.

I can only see Inter pushing him out if they intend to save on wages and pay De Vrij instead. But again - and assuming this is not fake news - this is probably more down to Miranda than the club.
