Looks like we are signing a 30 yo player all over again, but I believe this guy will be rock solid in our defense, just like Lucio when we signed him back in 2009. Problem is Lucio only cost us 6mil euro if am not mistaken, Miranda will cost us 12mil euro + bonuses, well that is too much for 30 yo defender, but who knows, if he can bring something to our backline, am fine with that.

Di Mazio and Pedulla: Miranda at Inter, closes on Thursday?
The offer amounts to 12 million euro while Colchoneros will ask 18, the deal could go into port for a figure of around 13 million to 14 million more bonus.

Perfect CB for good price - 12-15m i think he is better than Benatia!

Romano: Miranda, the Inter closes Thursday, 15 million cash
Closed by Josema Gimenez and Diego Godin in the new ideas of Cholo Simeone, Miranda asked explicitly to be able to try an adventure in another league. So many polls, from Milan to Manchester United through the Chelsea, phone information. But Inter have chosen to get serious when he heard of the green light Atlético Madrid: yesterday came the official contact for the first offer that came close to the 13 million euro. The decisive day will be Thursday, When will the face-off between the two clubs to meet the 15 million Euros that claims Atlético to deprive the central Brazilian who will turn 31 in September.

For its part, the Inter has already agreed with Miranda by a few days. Now there is to define the total agreement with Colchoneros in two days: the final offer is expected to reach 15 million cash portion, so as to convince the Atlético and avoid new payments. No bonus so the amount that will be paid over several years and that will unlock a deal that Inter are believed to be able to close. Meanwhile, Miranda is in Chile for the Copa America, waiting for a call, and has already given its approval in principle a contract that could be until 2018. So Mancini will have its leading defense, waiting for Thursday to close. And avoid surprises.

So let me know if I've got this right...

Inter are to pay Atletico Madrid €15m for a 30yo defender that is considered to be out of favour with Simeone as a 1st choice partner to Godin ?

He fits well in the traditional youth project for this club.

then dont worry when we have to sell everyone in two years for the club to not be crippled by debt, and when we are banned from european football for violating FFP rules.

This is a declining player, please stay away. Even when Atletico were playing at their best he was still the weaker of the two CBs, although to be fair Godin was the best defender in Europe that season IMO.

Every club needs expenses signing and investment signings.. Inter has the pressure to try*(might or might not succeed) to get results because of the fans.. and fans are annoyed when inter trying*(might or might not succeed) to get better results...

Think again.. they are willing to pay little more(what ever the amount is, the difference between actual value and paying value) to get result and pleased you all... yet this is what they get from you?

Obviously I don't favor this deal as well.. my hope is a team of under 21.. but is that realistic?

it shouldnt be about "pleasing the fans", it should be about building a financially stable club that isnt on the brink of being disqualified frmo europe or being crippled by debt.

Bandiera, with all due respect, stop this doom mongering and understand that if we don't get our heads above the shitpool we're in atm we're going to surely drown in it with all the FFP crap pouring non-stop.

Spend big and get back to the top of the game fast or die in mediocrity for the next 40 years. I don't have this much time on my hands.

I understand your point but where there's a will there's a way. Okay, spend little for transfers but at least spend big for a stadium in the meantime. Why aren't we doing that?! Cause, you know FFP doesn't apply for infrastructure spending.

We should always strive to be the best, if we relax and admit we're shit we, most definitely, will become shit and it's a downward spiral from there. Sadly, by the look of what most people here are posting I think we've already reconciled with us being shit and are totally okay with this. We ourselves have become mediocre just by watching this team.

There are numerous example of other teams that have managed properly and build stadiums, acquire good players for good money, etc. The teams that are doing everything as it's supposed to be. Take Juve for example, they were in the shitpool but didn't just sit back and consent to mediocrity. They were smart, did the right deals, built a stadium and now they play in CL finals. It isn't that hard really.

Good point but if the fans see the means are wrong, they are not happy. We've wasted so much transfer money in recent years to totally short-sighted solutions or borderline failed evaluations of player's quality that enough is enough.
