Tactially very clever, fotball smart combined with finesse and technique and vision. Without a doubt our best player.

People tend to forget when we used 40M on him that he was rated among the top 3 in that portugal team in performance that euro, maby only beaten by Pepe which was the best player in that entire tournament that how good he was that euro, under the right management and not a complete circus hopefully this guy can turnout to be really something special for us!

He should really spend half an hour after every training session practising to improve his shooting technique.

Inter star: ‘I told Renato Sanches to join AC Milan’

Inter had a very good pre-season tour in China and Singapore as they managed to seal wins against Bayern Munich and Chelsea.

The nerazzurri finished seventh last season and aim to – at least – qualify for the Champions League in the 2017/18 campaign.

The Serie A giants will be facing Fiorentina in their opening Serie A game of next season with La Viola who is now coached by former Inter boss Stefano Pioli.

Talking to La Gazzetta dello Sport, Inter star Joao Mario has shared his thoughts on the incoming Serie A campaign as well as on the transfer market.

“It makes no sense to talk about the Seire A title. Juventus are the favourite team, followed by Roma and Napoli. They’ve been together for the last few years and they know each other very well. Then there is AC Milan. We want to win the Coppa Italia and qualify for the Champions League. A team like Inter must play the Champions League every year.”

“Nainggolan and Hamsik are my role models. They create many goal chances, they score lot of goals and I have to improve in front of goal. I hope I will go the extra mile with Spalletti, many midfielders have really improved after working with him, I hope the same will happen with me.”

Joao Mario’s compatriot Renato Sanches is being heavily linked with a move to AC Milan. Talking about the future of the Bayern Munich starlet, Joao Mario said: “We talked on Thursday, after the game. He is young and he wants to play, I understand that. I told him that if he goes to AC Milan he’d join a big club and I’d have one more friend in Milan.”

Here is a more complete version of the Joao Mario interview

“I am not yet at 100 per cent. I’ve started pre-season well, but I can and must do much more,” he told La Gazzetta dello Sport.

“It was disappointing to miss the Confederations Cup with a calf injury, but in hindsight those extra days of rest really did me the world of good.”

This season, Joao Mario has been handed the iconic Number 10 jersey at Inter.

“There is extra responsibility in wearing the 10, as it’s a special shirt, especially at this club. After that, clearly a number doesn’t dictate what I do on the pitch or my role.

“Although I have notions of being a rugged midfielder, the truth is I attack better than I defend. The most important thing is that the team keeps possession of the ball, as last year we struggled to do that and it made everything more difficult.

“It was the kind of season that I don’t think can be repeated. When you start that badly, it’s really tough to turn things around.”

Roberto Mancini quit two weeks before the Serie A season began, Frank de Boer was fired at the end of October and Stefano Pioli followed in April, finishing the campaign with caretaker Stefano Vecchi.

“Pioli is a good Coach, but even with 10 wins in a row we were unable to close the gap on the front three. When we saw the Champions League places were too far away, that really affected us and we lost confidence.”

Spalletti made no secret of the fact he wanted Nainggolan to follow him from Roma to Inter, but Joao Mario has a plan.

“Nainggolan and Marek Hamsik are two real reference points for me, as they help the team, create and score goals. I need to improve in front of goal and I should’ve scored yesterday against Chelsea too.

“I hope that with Spalletti I can make that step up in quality to reach their level. Considering how well he helped other midfielders to develop, I have faith.

“Of course, they’ve been playing in Serie A for many years and this is only my second. Serie A is a very difficult and tactical league.

“We are all following Spalletti because we realise this is the right path. A club like Inter needs such a complete Coach who can work on psychology as well as tactics. We must learn from our mistakes, get back into the Champions League and then improve the quality of the squad.

“Our objective is clear, a top four position, but I hope that along the way we can aim even higher. There’s no point thinking about the Scudetto, though, as Juventus are the favourites with Napoli and Roma behind. Then there’s Milan, who changed a great deal, but I think under Juve it’ll be a four-way battle for the remaining three Champions League spots.

“We do miss the Champions League, as it’s unthinkable that a side like Inter isn’t even participating.”

He basically admits that the team gave up last year when they knew that CL was not possible. Something we all suspected.

Goal.com: Joao Mario talks up Milan move for Sanches, but to AC rather than Inter
Inter midfielder Joao Mario would like to see Portugal team-mate Renato Sanches in Italy, even if he does end up at AC Milan.

Several clubs have expressed an interest in the highly-rated midfielder, with Bayern Munich CEO Karl-Heinz Rummenigge revealing that Premier League champions Chelsea are among the chasing pack.
Sanches is, however, reported to favour a loan move to Serie A over a stint in England and that has opened the door for big-spending Milan, with Mario believing a switch would make sense for a teenage talent seeking to rediscover his best form after a testing debut campaign in Germany.

The Euro 2016 winner told La Gazzetta dello Sport on the Sanches transfer rumours: “We spoke after Thursday’s game [between Inter and Bayern Munich in Singapore].

“He is young and strong, so I understand that he wants to play consistently and there is a lot of competition for places at Bayern.

“I told him that if he goes to Milan, he’ll find a great club and I’d have another friend in the city.”

That's basically Joao Mario telling Sanches he's not good enough to play alongside him :lol::lol:

glad you guys aren't calling for his head for not saying AC Milan will give you herpes. PSG want him 30 mil + the defender we are after.

Didn't we pay 45 mil for this guy? 60 million + that defender we want. They got money !!!

Mario is class and dare I say 40M for him was a steal at the time.

Aurier is considered surplus in Paris, a troublemaker as well, whereas Mario came just last season and this one is going to be his breakthrough one, I see no reason to agree to that deal.

The Spalletti-argument can be brought up for any player actually. Hell, I even think Nagatomo might not suck under Spalletti.

What makes me uncomfortable is the fact that our midfield - apart from Borja - basically consists of players who could potentially be good next season or at some point in the future. Gags, Kdog and Mario all fit that description. Brozo is just an inconsistent nut case.
That leaves us only with Borja who guarantees some quality in the middle. Same goes for Vecino I guess, probably less quality tho. All others may or may not have a good season.

What worries me as well is that in an interview he said he likes to attack more than defend, that's fine I guess. But in the same interview he admitted he has yet to learn how to shoot. The guy is almost 24 and wants to learn to shoot? Give me a break.

Offloading a player like Mario and getting some guaranteed quality at the back a là Aurier might do wonders. In this particular case there is a big "if" as well, since Aurier is nut case as well.

It's funny how you and others were quiet when he was having a good preseason. After that own goal you magically found your balls to come out of hiding.
