If my knowledge is not fooling me, he was a striker, bought from Barcelona... I think he's Spanish or something like that(latin american i mean)Most probably Spanish... He was brought in 1961 if I'm not mistaken

I do know that he scored the winning goal for us in the Champions Cup final against Benfica at the Giuseppe Meazza in 1965.

Their goalie fecked up that one, big time. :D It was a rainy evening in milano, which could explain the huge blunder.

Haha I saw that one :D Such goals are extremely funny, and to say that it judged a whole European Cup makes it even funnier :p I'd even laugh if we won a friendly with such goal :D

And Jair is Spanish ;) 99% certain

Jair Da Costa was Brazilian, 100 % sure. He won 4 scudetti and 2 Champions Cups with us. He played mostly as a winger and was famous for his inch-perfect crosses. 1967-68 season he played in Roma, but then returned to Inter. He played also for Selecão and won the WC with them in 1962.

In 1962 when he arrived in Italy he was the first coloured (black) player in Serie A. Inter paid Botafogo 175.000 dollars. ;)
Jair has also worked for Inter after his career as a scout.

Why do I get the feeling that we brought him from Barca...?(saw this on a documentary, which says: Inter bought Spaniard Jair from Barca for a record price of that time...)

You're probably mixing him with Luis Suarez. He was the Spaniard who we bought for a record price from Barca. ;)

I thought I before posting, but then I remember him saying the Spaniard striker Jair, but then remembered he was too dark for a Spaniard :D :D :D

I also thought he was Brazilian, but that documentary was very accurate, so I believed them...

Jair was Brazilian and played as a Left winger and he ran at players. He had great ball skills and he was incredibnly fast. My Grandad remembers him coz he played as Garrincha but on the left while Garrincha played on the right.

BTW the spaniard is Suarez, brought from Barcelona as a striker.

That is all my grandad told me about Jair.

Indeed he was very fast and excellent with ball. I'm not sure, but IMO he played mostly as a right winger at least in Inter. Maybe he played on left wing in Selecão. Anyway he was a winger or more or less a flanked forward, very offensive player.
