except im not blaming mancini for screwing up a few transfers. why is it that the mancini supporters like to always take what is said out of context?
i said mancini wanted wingers last time around, we brought in cesar, mariano, and then his whim changed. as said by wallace (forza mancini ) above, he actually ended up using figo as a treq. my point is that mancini has done this before so there wouldn't be anything surprising about him doing it again. it was a comment, not an argument or anything like that. and what i said remains true, he badly wanted a.mancini here and kept kily for his "tactics" to start accomodating "wingers". pretty sure "good coaches" don't repeatedly spend a lot of money on particular players and then change their mind when their whim changes..
So, I'm a Mancini supporter and you are an objective and critical observer? Right. Didn't mean to take things out of context at all. You can choose to talk about the problem being the failed transfers or about his "whim changing" magically. Which is more plausible? Did it occur to you that he changed his mind because the transfers failed?
Mancini doesn't make his decisions based on whims. He has his faults and limitations, but he is rational and pragmatic. It is also worth remembering that he quickly abandoned his winger tactic and made the team work very well. People love to downplay Mancini's achievements at Inter the last time around, but it was a very solid team. About his second era, it is still very much an empty page. Atleast we signed multi- purpose forwards instead of classic wingers. They could even make it here, a lot like Eto'o and Pandev (well, he kinda made it).
