I'm not arguing that; I'm saying it's just as well he does because otherwise he'd be useless - hence the paradox - and no amount of tracking back would change that.
He's a direct winger, if we wanted someone who just passes the ball around and plays it safe when he's not scoring or assisting we should just put Joao Mario there. It's only in the last two games against Juve and Udinese that he decided to completely forget how to control a simple pass. He's also proven to be a viable aerial which is useful for all the crossing from the right side. I really don't see how he's useless on the rare game or two he plays without scoring/assisting.
