Does Roma's squad lack talent? Sure, it looks awful on paper. The defense in particular is a joke. But the squad plays with no cohesive plan or ideas. Against bigger clubs they sit deep. Against smaller clubs they're listless. That's on Mourinho.

He should have never taken that job.

Mourinho cannot assemble his team, and this is quite obvious in his third season at Roma. He needs great sporting director, and a lot of cash in order to do something. Good move by Marotta that went on Counter instead of Mourinho.

So Conte can assemble a team? I'm confused by your flow of thought here.

Half the good players arrived the final week before the transfer window ended and I doubt they can be very helpful by the end of the year with all these international breaks.

You cannot magically make a team that has pressure to get (some) results play at a certain level overnight.

The other problem Mourinho has is that the rest of his team is mostly incompetent rather just not up to par. Common denominator wins in team sports. And it's not like there's one weakness to hide, there's several.

And yes, Roma was always a bad idea for Mourinho, but the guy likes challenges and he's definitely performed better than expected overall. If Roma expect him to compete on three fronts or if you expect him to prefer chasing 4th spot over a European trophy, you should have gone for someone else.
I'm pretty sure Roma is more than happy with what Mourinho brings to the table and if their owners were mkre competent they could have been a Scudetto challenger.

Of course. He was the main architect of our scudetto winning team.
Was he the architect of any other team? I'm confused as how this doesn't translate anywhere els except for the rigged Juventus years...
And also confused how a weaker side, twice in a row and potentially three times in a row, has escaped the CL groups.

So Conte built the team, not the management. I imagine Inzaghi is building this team as well? And Conte spent 250m while Inzaghi has to put money in, does that factor in?

Conte has changed to the 3-5-2 formation used by Inzaghi too. Conte asked for Lukaku in particular, who has formed a great partnership with Lautaro, and was fundamental for the scudetto. Conte blocked the exit of Bastoni and made him a regular starter at Inter. Barella wasn't on him, but he got all of ManU rejects which were very cheap and useful for us. And I said the architect, because the team was quite different to what Spalletti had built before. The management has his share with good deals for Barella and Hakimi.
I don't get why you are trying to involve Inzaghi? The latter uses Conte's formation, and he even stuck to counter attacking football which brought us the scudetto. Inzaghi also doesn't have so much power regarding the transfers. Acerbi is great hit, but Correa was a disastrous wish. I don't want to mention Caicedo at all. Thuram is not his choice obviously, neither is Frattesi or Hakan. Dumfries was management's target was well. Maybe Mkhitaryan is 50/50 between Marotta and Inzaghi, I don't remember what media said about him back then.

Come on. He won an EPL title with a garbage Chelsea team, completely transforming the way they play.

He inherited that team. Remember what happened once they listened to him?

So Mourinho inherited from Ranieri as well. And from Mancini....or did he build a team from the ground up every time? Such a silly argument to make to discredit somebody else.

Galliani said that Berlusconi was very sad when Inter lost the CL final, 2 days before he died. Only at the derbys he was against Inter, a true Milanese"

There has never been a real hatred between the two clubs, at least when I've been watching with people who aren't on the internet.

The derby is like playing a game with your brother, but for some reason everyone wants to watch it. If you win, you can gloat for a week.

Juventus, on the other hand...

I defended Mou for a long time but he didn't do anything to impress in the last years. Lost the team in Chelsea and lost the team in Manchester. What he did at Tottenham could have been done from any manager - and same goes for Roma.

Two European finals, yes ... But what I remember most about Roma winning the Coca Cola Cup is that they were favourites on paper in every game and how much they sucked against Bodo Glimt. And that the fans celebrated that cup like the CL. Europa League final ... Okay. But who did Roma beat that you couldn't expect them? And they also showed some disgraceful performances in that "run".

New age fans unfortunately don't get indulged in a football way the proper way and do things their way. You see this everywhere, not just with international fans.
They base everything on their perspective and ignore all historical context. Video games and social media have corrupted football to a large degree.

Internet fans are even worse because at least if you're in the area you'll eventually succumb to the identity of the club.

I just cannot understand how any Inter fan says he dislikes Milan more than Juventus. Only because their internet fanbase is more annoying. Who cares? Bayern fans are annoying over the internet and 99% cannot point neither Germany nor Munich on a map... The real Bayern fans, at least a bunch that I've met, are great football fans with good perspective. And I say real because we all know that 9/10 of those "internet fans" will jump ship to some PL club or Real Madrid if Bayern doesn't win stuff for 2 years.

The only fanbase that has been diluted so much from this new age that has lost its proper identity is Barcelona. They maximized all the negative complexes they had and kept nothing from what made them a great fanbase 30 years ago... Manchester United etc never had a culture to begin with. It was marketed as a "pity me" club for 40 years ans ever since 2000 it was marketed full stop.
