Juventus's influential vice-general manager Roberto Bettega says he never doubted Ciro Ferrara and that the media are the only ones trying to sack him.
The Italian Press was absolutely certain that yesterday's match against Napoli in the Coppa Italia would be Ferrara's last and even lined up a successor, Guus Hiddink.
However, a 3-0 victory appears to have allayed any cause for concern in Ferrara and Bettega reiterates that the club will continue to back their man with a few signings in the January transfer window.
“The doubts about Ferrara seemed to me to come more from the Press than us. The work goes on and we will continue along this path. Nothing is lost,” Bettega said.
“We have important objectives like qualification for the Champions League, the Coppa Italia and the old UEFA Cup. Juventus never gives up, instead they look forward day after day.”
Juventus are back in action at the weekend when they travel to Chievo.
