Is that our team is very undynamic, which is actually ironic considering that we have a very big squad. But due to the fact that most of our midfielder is most effective as bollwinners rather then beeing creative. This leaves us very vulnerable to injuries in the midfield deperatment. Add to that, those midfielders (Snejider and Motta) that actually offer some sort of creativity are A) Injury prone and B) They arent that creative, specially Motta falls in the latter category.

We could easly see this vulnerability against Sampdoira, when we were forced to play with Vieria, Zanetti and Cambiasso, which didnt work. Adding Stankovic and Civhu and subbing Vieria didnt change much either.

I also see a problem in the attack, and this becomes a problem because of our midfield, and that is we lack physical presence in the attack when we play both Eto ´o Milito. Both great with the ball at their feet, but those aint the biggest guy around. This becomes a problem because of our current midfields inability to service our attackers with good balls i.e, on the ground. Crosses into the box arent as effective either when having both Eto ´o and Milito at pitch

The only attacker we have that is physicaly strong and also fast is Balotelli and we could see how well he did against Sampdoria. In games when we are dominating, having Eto´o and Milito on the pitch is not a problem. However when we face opponents that are as good or better then us it is vital to have an attacker who has enough physical presence to handle those longer balls, atm neihter Eto´o or Milito can do this. Having Milito, Eto ´o and Balotelli is not an option atm because of our midfield. When both Motta and Sneijder are healthy we can consider it but as both are injured, playing 4-3-3 is out of the question. My opinon is that Balotelli should play, and that being on the expense of either Milito or Eto when facing good opponents. However is Balotelli mature enough to be a first striker at a club like Inter?

This is some of my thoughts and I would welcome some thoughts on this , even if you dont agree with me.

Get the ball to either Milito or Samu in space...If you continue to just knock the longballs up top, you won't see them at their best...Midfield has to generate possession and deliver some nice through balls....I love Sneijder for this sort of job but he can't maintain the possession himself...How have Balotelli & Wesley fared when played together?...Seems like it could be a nice combo with Zanetti playing in behind them

The further you place a player like Samu away from the opponent's area, the less dangerous he becomes...And if the defense is simply camped around him & Milito, that doesn't play to their strengths either.

From what I can see, the 'problem' is in the midfield.

Haven't seen too many overlapping runs from Maicon of late either

Inter's problem? Easy.

1. Obsession to play modern football
2. 4-3-3 and wingers it has brought.

I didnt say we shoudnt, but we dont have the players to play it, we can play it when the characteristics of our league and our midfielders allow us to. You cannot change the whole midfield in one summer, we've just started and hopefully if we keep signing players we need in midfield every summer, we will be ready for modern football.

Right now we are built for 4-3-1-2 and quite frankly anyone who suggests we play otherwise doesnt really understand our team, no attack, but my opinion in all my years supporting Inter. Maybe if we rotate and play our hungrier players a little more, we might get better.

Mentality.
Players like Zanetti coming out after such disastrous performances like Rubin and congratulating the team on a job well done

Our problems are not too difficult to make out. In terms of the starting XI, I would say
- Cuchu and Zanetti together in midfield
- Chivu at LB

When the above two things happen, there are 3 players who are just sitting back, giving backward passes or throwing the ball up into no-mans-land.

I wouldnt say its its so much Zanettis faul as it is that we dont have the midfielders to offer creativity except Motta and Sneijder. When you think about we seemd to have changed being reliant on one player (Zlatan) to be reliant on two players (Motta and Snejider). The problem is that those two guys is injuryprone and we dont have Zlatan to bail us out anymore.

Well neither Motta not Sneijder are creative in the true sense. They just have more offensive capabilities than Zanetti and Cambiasso. Players like Motta have shone elsewhere because the other midfielders were either more creative or at par with him. That gave rise to a more balanced midfield. But here the other midfielders are even less creative than him.

Yea well exactly, the two most creative midfielders in our teams isnt really that creative, which is somewhat sad and pathetic

bobooooo (until
All our mids are "helpers" that NEED a midfield "leader" to play good. A midfield of Sneijder, Stankovic and Zanetti/Cambiasso, combined with someone who can really take control in the midfield and connect the play with attackers, is a great midfield. A midfield with all of them together, without that mystery player, is NOT a great midfield. As much as you like Sneijder he didn't really impress me yet, other than vs. Milan, which we see now that it can't be a team we compare to.
