4-4-2 rombo is our formation.
and should switch.

Santon should be given a chance, Maicon is missed badly...but formation is most important and I hope we will switch.

Nice to see we can get result still, Eto'o is superb and I am sure Milito will easily get back to top with formation switch. not to mention it will help Mariga too...

Javier Zanetti,
We can't play a 4-4-2 formation with Sneijder in our ranks. He plays behind the strikers and the formation we used today is what made us win the treble last season. But I hope Eto'o gets closer to goal so he can score just like Milito.

At least we got the three points, I'm happy with that, our performance needs to improve massively though.

Udinese is always a struggle for us so a great win tonight... Played poorly buts thats the usual LOL Its Inter. 70% of our season is us grinding out results to get the win wih poor football. We should be used to it ;)

Like Luka said, we looked out of Sync. Newer players like Mariga needs more time to Gel but in saying that I see Motta slotting back in to the starting eleven once he's back.

Honestly guys... Does Biabiyani really fit in this team??? IMO he doesn't. Today, he struggled to utilize his speed and that's really his only weapon. Coutinho and Pandev are a lot better options if we are to play wide players.

I really want to see both Coutinho and Snejder on at the same time... Like RFU was saying, the magic can't always come from Sneijder... Too predictable. Cambiasso tries his best but isn't a playmaker as you could see tonight.

Eto'o at centre forward was great to see wasn't it... Even if it was just for 5 mins. In saying that though, I wouldn't bench Milito... He just needs to find that fire again. Get Hungry!

Chivu should not start again at LB... Please... Santon will hopefully be ready for FC Twente.

Francesco Guidolin rues poor finishing from his Udinese side, who “deserved at least a point against Inter.”

The Friulani had cancelled out Lucio’s opener with Antonio Floro Flores, but even though Samir Handanovic initially saved Samuel Eto’o’s penalty, could do nothing on the follow-up.

“Today more than a win we deserved at least a point, but we have to take the blame and that goes for the Coach too,” he said of the 2-1 loss.

“We can’t seem to shake off these silly errors that are the key to this game. Inter had very wide strikers and wingers with a centre-forward, so we realised the problem.

“We changed our system to a 4-3-3 and went on to create many scoring opportunities. We had found the equaliser, but it went this way in the end.

“We lost simply because we weren’t clinical enough in attack.”

Udinese are rooted to the foot of the table without a point after two games, but Guidolin confesses to supporting the Nerazzurri.

“I have been an Inter fan since childhood and they have a place in my heart, so I cheered them on throughout Europe and the world.

“I was happy to meet Jose Mourinho last season and Rafa Benitez now. They are both gentlemen.”

Never he is an Inter fan.

We say this after every game, yet he continues to be played there.

With Maicon injured and Santon perhaps not at 100% I'm not sure we had much of a choice today, but going forward it should always be Maicon and JZ as the fullbacks with Santon as cover. Chivu offers nothing going forward and clearly can't handle anyone with any kind of pace in the open field. He's a backup center back and that's how we should be using him.

What's your thoughts on Cordobas slip tackle on Di Natale? Was it a penalty?

I'd have to watch it again but at the time it looked like he go his boot stuck in the grass.

EARLY SERIE A MATCHES: ETO'O LAUGHS, IBRA CRIES

Roma collapse in Cagliari, 30 stitches for Conti.
Inter win with difficulty against Udinese, the Cameroonian is once again decisive.
The Swede misses a penalty.

INTER STOP UDINESE

Eto'o punishes.
Benitez smiles.
Lucio puts Inter in front, the equalizer is Floro Flores' but then the Cameroonian is incited.

Milan - When such a politically-corrected like Rafa Benitez said "Moratti has always bought a lot, but not this time. I don't know why." Meaning the transfer market is still in his stomach and he fears the consequences of missing reinforcement because implementing the project in his head is now more difficult. "It is not my Inter," said the coach at the end of the game. May it be? Yesterday's Inter were positioned in a sea of difficulty coming out the game with all three points from set-pieces (corner and penalty). Inter found a courageous Udinese with Floro Flores scoring the equalizer after Lucio's left-footed shot to put Inter on top. And then there is Eto'o.

Inter split Benitez plays the card of Biabiany instead of Pandev. The boy scoured promisingly but was substituted out later on because Zanetti and Lucio were shouting in his face for him to come back and cover, a task that is not one of his instincts. Eto'o on the left was with even less help than last year where the great Sanchez raged on and Inter were suffering with Chivu constantly in trouble. A convenient cross given by Sanchez to Floro Flores' goal explains the concept well. Getting Santon back on his form is now a priority. Inter suffered all over the field. With the pushing of Mascherano and the quality of Thiago Motta things would have been simpler. With a Mariga yesterday (imprecise, messy) and Cambiasso away from his top form things were more difficult. In the attack, Sneijder and the strikers were a grind and it seems the team was often split in two, apart from each other. Without Maicon (his pushing forward and crosses), movement was suffered.

There is Hugh Grant in the stands with Moratti:

  • Hugh Grant shakes hand with Massimo Moratti, with Trochetti Provera and wife Afef.
  • Lucio 1-0: On a corner by Sneijder, Handanovic badly hit the ball with his hand, Lucio rebounded and launched a left-footed shot to the opposite post.
  • The equalizer of Floro Flores: On the developments of a corner, Di Natale crossed the ball to the center, Floro Flores headed in before the anticipation of Lucio and equalized for Udinese.
Stingy Udinese Udinese, with 4 midfielders plus Sanchez and Di Natale supported by Floro Sanchez, were well guarded and especially with Inler, the former objective of Inter. After scoring the equalizer, Guidolin, instead of looking for more against a team that is not in form, pulled his players back, 4 in the back and 5 in the midfield and was prepared to resist. A serious mistake when you are dealing with champions, while on a day out of tune for the band, they can still play their individual talent. First it was a penalty not seen by the referee for Inter where Eto'o was fouled in the area. Then there was a handball of Angella. Finally, Eto'o's PK was saved by Handanovic but he was there to make it 2-1.

Diamond At this stage of the season, many are struggling and yet they still got a win. Benitez can smile and work with the data gathered yesterday where Eto'o played as a central striker after Milito went out. With Il Principe's condition is still lacking, it is a crime to keep Eto'o on the wings. Given the athletic condition in terms of running, it seems appropriate to place one more midfielder. The rombo (4-3-1-2) seems like a natural response. Benitez will calmly think about it. Basically, "the favorite in Istanbul", as he called them, had everything on the market but that doesn't mean they are better. As a matter of fact, they are now behind.

I thought it was a typical display from Inter. Not to dissimilar to many games last year. Udinese always seem to be a struggle.

Mariga did not have the best game and needs to seriously inprove his passing. Going into big games this could be a major problem. Biabiyani was a weak link, many missed passes, wrong moves and never really helped in tracking back. I'm surprised why Coutinho is not being used on the left. He has said at times he likes that ronaldinho type position. Like Alessandro mentions it would be great to see him and Sneijder together. Milito needs to be played to get his form back.

The return of Maicon and Motta will make a big difference. However, judging by the performances of Inter so far this season, the attacking play and left side of defence is a concern.

Anyway happy that we got the result! Good stuff. (Barc, Milan, Roma - oh dear)

Coutinho is probably even worse when it comes to tracking back. Biabiany is physically more ready so it's understandable he goes ahead of the Brazilian. Hopefully Rafa will switch to 4-3-1-2 and tries something new, something which Mancini and Mourinho didn't try.

Javier Zanetti,
I didn't see Di Natale's trip in the penalty box. I will watch the highlights to see if it's really a penalty.

Santon should start at left back, Chivu's performance at left back never convinced me.
also cambiasso's performance is under line, he should make way for motta once motta back.
we need another striker, biabiany need improve and we can't risk
