where is the team exposed? pandev and biabiany track back, and in the middle i have 2 central defenders covered by cambiasso and sneijder

How many tackles do you see sneijder making per match?? He is not a dm and it will not work. Having only one dmc on the field was one of the reason why we struggled in the second half vs spurs. It unbalances the side completely.

Tracking back is not the same as defending. They may help out defensively but that will not negate the issue caused by the weak central midfield.

About Sneijder: He may could play as one of the '3' at 4-3-1-2, but he can't play as one of the '2' at 4-2-3-1.

We saw that he did'nt do well against Spurs when he played as one of the '2'. Other intersting thing is that Coutinho plays better as winger than as Attacking midlefielder. When he was AMC against Tottenham he did'nt impressed me like as he did when he was a left winger.

The battle will be interesting in the middle as Sampdoria have a couple of really tough central minded players in Tissone and Palombo. It will also be interesting to see Poli feature as he is catching the glimpses of all the right clubs in Italy currently. Pazzini and Cassano are the obvious dangers up front, but I really do think that if we shut their midfield down that the former two won't have that much of the ball which will mean they won't be that visible.

On the wings, or rather wide players they have a decent left side with Ziegler and Guberti, both who know how to step their games up for the grand occasion. As for the right hand side Marilungo and Zauri look likely to start which is a little bit more defensive than the left. Ultimately we will look to limit Poli's influence on the game, as I don't see most of their midfield creating much in terms of defense splitting passes. This is the game where we see if Andrea truly is as good as the hype he has been getting the past season and a half.

I think we can really expose them with our extra man in midfield as we will have 2 DM's, most likely Zanetti and Cambiasso watching over Poli and Guberti. This leaves Palombo, Marilungo, and Guberti to deal with our wings and Sneijder. We can readily hit this team on the counter, especially with Maicon coming from the right when Guberti pushes forward, but we have to be weary of them countering as well.

As for Etoó.. he will be coming up against Gastadello and Volta, two experienced central defenders who will to position themselves well enough to stop the Cameroonian. I think Samuel will continue his run of fine form in a game that has potential to be an attacking feast of football. Angelo Palombo and Giampaolo Pazzini didn’t travel with the squad to Ukraine for the Europa league match Sampdoria had on Thursday to keep fresh for this game so we will have to be careful as some of our players played midweek against Spurs. Semioli however is out, so one of Marilungo and Koman will get the right mid spot with the latter scoring against Metalist Kharkiv on Thursday.

I foresee a similar lineup as we saw versus Spurs with Zanetti and Cambiasso forming the central midfield pairing, instead of Stankovic and Zanetti.

This may sound a little crazy, but I wouldn't mind giving Muntari a chance in this game. We're having an injury crisis at the moment and I'd hate to see Cambiasso rushed back and get hurt again. Start Muntari and Zanetti, and change things up if things need.

I see no point in playing him when he is not in the clubs plans and is expected to leave jan. I rather play obi or obiora then muntari.
