First match thread so go easy, i am not an artist nor am i tech savy, just saw that there wasn't a thread yet for this fixture and its coming up quite shortly, and I'm curious to everyones thoughts on it and how we should approach it based on the fact that a win will virtually seize a one way entrance to the knockouts. This might be one of the few times this season where I genuinely don't care about the result. I'd like to see Mazzarri experiment with some players and formations but its basically taken for granted that he won't actually do anything along those lines. We're practically assurred advancement so I am ok with a tie or loss if we can get a little bit of tinkering going, I REALLY want to see Bonazzoli play (although I doubt it'll happen). If we play our starting 11 and lose I at least expect some ridiculous Mazzarri stunt to appease my anger (red card, broken hand, bottle bite, really anything as long as I can subjugate my misery upon it)

Nope, coefficient points are important for Italy to get their fourth spot back and for us when it comes to getting put into plots during the group stage draws. Unless you want us to be like Roma and get drawn into a group with Bayern and Man City or something similar if/when we get back into the CL?

Its not even giving the youngsters a "chance" anymore when you consider just how well they are playing the primavera. Hasn't bonazzoli scored 4 twice this year? Had something like 13 goals in 6 matches. Puscas grabbed a hat trick in the derby against milan this week?
Sounds like there doing a lot more then some of the cats up here...Let the damn kids play!

We can seal qualification of we win, meaning much less pressure on us and we could focus a bit more in Serie A. I expect both Guarin and M'Vila to start, and really wish Obi will get a go after his performance against Napoli last night. I don't think Bonazzoli will start, but he might get a chance as a sub. Expect Andreoli to be back in defence a the cost of Vidic.

In that case you could even argue Dnipro are better. I rate Shaktar and Kiev, or at least I did in previous seasons. I know Shaktar lost a lot of good players this summer.

Almost is not good enough. I will be very surprised to see any serious rotation yet - maybe in the 5th and 6th group phase games if we have already qualified by then.

These two games against St Etienne, Inter will go for a win with our best XI or close to it.

Hmm I honestly didn't really take that into account at first, I concede. WE NEED TO WIN THIS (although I'd still prefer some rotation from Mazzarri, don't want the team too tired this weekend)
