Toulouse 0-0 Sochaux: FT Report
PA
TOULOUSE, March 19 (Ligue 1) - A goalless draw in the end suited neither Toulouse nor Sochaux who are both vying for a spot in next season's UEFA Cup.
Sochaux look likely to lose coach Guy Lacombe in the summer - possibly to Paris St Germain - but now are looking unlikely to qualify for Europe for the third time in a row.
Toulouse have been one of the surprise packages of the season but this result does their own continental quest no good.
The hosts started well and Thibault Giresse created a chance for Stephane Dalmat after 17 minutes but the former Internazionale player failed to find the target with his shot.
A minute later, Sochaux's Mickael Isabey struck the woodwork with Toulouse goalkeeper Christophe Revault beaten.
Giresse was having an excellent game for ``les violets'' and he then created a chance for Eduardo da Silva who failed to test Teddy Richert with his header.
Richert next made a fine save to deny Daniel Moreira, who had fired in a shot.
With six minutes remaining he came to his side's rescue again to deny Pantxi Sirieix.
Sochaux started the second half well and Jaouad Zairi created a chance for Araujo Ilan, who failed to take the chance.
After 52 minutes, the in-form Ilan forced Revault into a spectacular save.
Jeremy Mathieu then carved out an opportunity for Souleymane Diawara whose header went wide.
Isabey then created a chance for Ilan but once again the Brazilian hitman failed to find the target.
At the other end, Richert made another important save to keep Dalmat's shot at bay while in the last significant moment of the match, a move involving Sochaux's Ilan created a chance for Wilson Oruma whose shot was saved by Revault
