okay I didnt know where to put it, but I do think we need to have a seperate thread where we can discuss the perfomance of Inter players in the WC.

Its really a shame that we have only 8 Interista's participating in the World biggest tournament out of our sqaud of 25. No wonder we dont win anything :p

Here is the official list, along with the player no.s

5 Esteban Cambiasso (Argentina)
7 Luis Figo(Portugal)
7 Adriano (Brazil)
10 Dejan Stankovic (Serbia & Montenegro)
20 Julio Ricardo Cruz (Argentina)
21 Nicolas Burdisso (Argentina)
22 Julio Cesar (Brazil)
23 Marco Materrazzi (Italy)

What's even more sorry, is that out of the 8, only 4 will be in the starting X1, of their respective sides.

This world cup is horrible for Interista's :yuck: :( :frustrat: :wallbang: :moan:

It was majorly stupid not to call J.Zanetti & Samuel anyways...Besides, had it not for one of the best goalkeeper in this decade, Buffon, Toldo would have come out of his international retirement and be Italy's #1.

Not that it matters much, but I clearly remember that in 2002 we had the highest number of players represented at the world cup. I did a quick search, but couldn’t find a link.

I dont think its such a bad situation at all. Having fewer players at WC means they dont have the chance to get some injury and can power up their batterys for coming season. For example if you look Arsenal, they have like 15 players who play for their national teams in Germany. For them theres a higher risk to get injured and/or tired on the process.

And about the small amount of WC players in our group, the fact that some big football nations arent in has it influence on our list of WC players too. Some big footballing countries like Nigeria,Uruguay,Colombia didnt qualify. Players like Oba,Chino and Cordoba would be instant choises for their national team if only they would have qualified to the competition. Also not forgetting the fact that some stupid coach could not pick players that clearly are worth it (javier, samuel), and the fact that pizarro was regular for chile before he retired from international duties. That makes 14 "potential WC-players".

No zanetti is the worst. btw, one can make up a worldcup winning squad with some of the people that were left out.

Maybe Julio quits the starter spot to Dida, who knows.... Dida season has been much worst than Julio's

No doubt Dida will be the starter, in my mind truely Dida is better than JC.
I will not support Argentina, it's enough they have a crapy squad, and now without JZ, or Milito, I don't expect much from them like in 02.

Something else, why is Sorin the captain sometimes even if JZ is in the field, I noticed that in the confederations cup last year. And isn't JZ 3 matches away from Simione's all time record for number of appearances?

Something else, \why Toldo retired internationally, what is he too old??????

Well we do have a few first timers also like Cruz (something incredible I think at 30 years old), Deki, JC, Burdisso I think also.

My point is, I do like to see Inter players perfoming for their respective sides. It makes me feel proud.
But yeah in the end, I think its only gonna be better for Inter, with so many players resting

Deki scored in the match against Uruguay, and Figo sets one for Pauleta, a guy we truely need in inter, but he's old).

Deki has played in the World Cup of France and even scored a goal ;)

He also played in the Euro 2000 of course, but the WC 2006 is the first tournament for Yugoslavia(now Serbia & Montenegro) so we don't really know much of their past ;)

The World Cup rookies are:
Cambiasso
Adriano
Cruz
Burdisso
Julio Cesar

So only Figo, Materazzi and Stankovic have World Cup experience
