I agree with Jake that the game wasn't particularly good, but it was far from being bad as well. It was obvious yesterday that individually, a lot of our players were playing better than they have had in the past. Certainly, Van der Meyde and Veron were on the uprise. However, their concentrated efforts together were altogether lacking. Maybe their play was too one-dimensional - Adriano was their main offensive key.

Still, we should not ring any panic buttons yet. Some work has to be done to get the team to function properly, and to have the defensive holes plugged. I must say that it is quite comforting knowing that the midfield effort is performing better than expected.

Guys, you can't have your cake and eat it. We aren't playing poorly at all. We're just lacking conviction in our overall team performance. Give Mancini some time to do that - i am of the belief that this team can go places when such problems are addressed.

Ciao,
Tim

Agreed.

There's no doubt that this team will be going places given some time together. Mancio has got these players going for the other team's throat and I absolutely love this mentality, this is what Inter has been lacking for so many years since Gigi Simoni IMO. It's important that the players acknowledge that they are playing well individually but there's still a lot of work to be done as a unit, which is the only way you'll be able to trash the smaller clubs like we should have done.

Basically, given more experience we'll eat Palermo alive and trash them 3-1 or a scoreline similar to that. Our performance gives me hope that we actually know we're up against and what we're doing, given a month or so we'll put many chances away to the back of the net and not only play good but effective football. What I saw last night is nothing just hard work and patience can't fix, and that's good news.

I just posted the Gazzetta.it match report in the translation thread. It's far from negative about our performance. All you moaners should check it out :p And please don't come out saying that Gazzetta.it is keen on Inter, cause they're just NOT, they've very harsh on us as soon as they can.

Once again, you fail to understand why we are being so critical of the team. We've said time and time again that we see potential in the team, and that Mancini has finally gotten the midfield looking lively and creative. Our team is full of ideas now, it's a great improvement.

But all the good points stop there. We're playing awesome attractive football but we lack effectiveness, which I think will come in time. What cost us the match yesterday was using such a static duo of Adriano and Cruz, Mancio should have known better. The difference when Martins came on for Cruz was crystal clear. Adding his pace and Veron's deadly precise passes are a very healthy ingredient.

Of course, we were very unlucky not to win. With a little more luck, Adriano would have scored another goal and wouldn't miss that rebound he had gotten or maybe Martins wouldn't have been fouled before his one-on-one with the Palermo keeper. We played a very motivated Palermo side, but not bagging in 3 pts is not good no matter how promising our team looked. However, one can't help but be happy to see how great we potentially are. I was certainly left excited and optimistic for the future last night.

Of course Nerazzurro, we can improve in all departments. We did some mistakes yesterday, but some of the judgements here have been far too harsh.

The defence made some mistakes but Cordoba and Matrix looked very solid to me. I don't understand people saying that Matrix should calm down. He's an aggressive player, that's one of his strong points. You say he was pulling shirts in the penalty area, that's dangerous but you can't complain if he doesn't give penalties away. Part of his job is to understand if he will get away with it, depending on the ref ideas.

We lost some balls cheaply in midfield but we saw many, many good passes and combinations. As Gazzetta.it remarked, we created so many chances in these last 3 games, that's definetely a positive sign.

If you consider that Palermo is not a weak side, you should be able to accept yesterday's result. Of course is not good, but this kind of matches happen during a season. Look at Milan against Livorno!

I was impressed. I will give him 7,5/10. My bad, I confused him with Gasbarroni... :wallbang::doh:

our opponents in serie a havent been an easy one....

at least we showed that we deserved to win both games...

palermo barely skipped out this game..., they suffered a lot...

and we saw least player getting injured...

it seems to me playing an offensive game makes us having less injury...

Interesting theory. But I also think this is due to the special athletic work we´re doing now with Carmi.

Frisko i still disagree with you, no matter how many match reports i read, even if Galliani did one praising us.

I watched the game twice also and im not impressed. Davids was terrible other than 1 or two runs after he won the ball.

Veron struggled to get his passes, Pasquale wasnt very good. Now to me playing good football isnt just quick one touch passing, or defending. The most important thing is finishing your chances!!! and if u cant do that then you are not playing good football. Look at our last 3 games, we certianly could of won Chievo, Bremen should of been 4-0 and this game at least 3-1. So sorry Frisko i dont think we did very well yesterday, we only had patches, coming in and out ofthe game.

What did you guys thought of Santana in this game?
Expected better out of him. Going by Gazzetta's way of player rating, I'd give him 5.5. What about you?

I do agree that effective entertaining football is the best we can dream and ask for. but there is something no one is talking about, this team with the coach and many players is so new, they cant have that team rapport in 2 or 3 games, analyzing Juve or Milan and u see that they are playing together since ages, we need to be patient.

we may lost 4 points so far but we are getting a great team and as soon as all the players get used on playing together then double the number of chances and of course double the number of goals at least if they kept the same ratio of chances/goals.

We should talk about the bad things but we should also appraise the good ones, and we should learn to be little bit patient.

U dont build something in over night but u can demolish it that way.

The Santana question was a trick-question and sadly I haven´t been given many replies. :D Santana was the one who challenged Pasquale during the entire game, and IMO Santana was among the worst on the pitch.

Exactly. But we need to practice some serious defensive attention exercises! Also of course shooting practice!

I remember when I played soccer and we wasted a lot of chances in a couple of games. Just like Inter did these days! We were ordered to shooting practice which is BTW great fun too. And the work paid off...

I gotta admit I was going to say Santana didn't impress me a lot, so you have a point there mate.

helal, even Gazzetta.it rated Veron very high, even if they were a bit strict in their judgement:

Adriano ATT 7.5
Stankovic CEN 6.5
Veron CEN 6.5
Ze' Maria DIF 6.5
Davids CEN 6.0
Materazzi DIF 6.0
Toldo POR 6.0
Van Der Meyde CEN 6.0
Cordoba DIF 5.5
Cruz ATT 5.5
Martins ATT 5.5
Pasquale DIF 5.0
Emre CEN s.v.
Vieri ATT s.v.

Hmm, I think they rated at least Davids way too high, and was it that Cordoba's one mistake rated him lower than Materazzi who was in my opinion always fouling and was very unreliable in the box.

And comparing our left/right defenders, there's a huge 1.5 point difference. Pasquale screwed that one situation badly but was Ze Maria so good with that goal assist? I think not, he was many times very much late in the defence when he did those attacking runs.

Materazzi and Ze Maria were both having a good match IMO. Cordoba and Pasquale had less of a good day...

I can't believe you said that Matrix was very unreliable in the box Cafe'. What if he conceded a penalty or something? Palermo had like 15 corners and Toni never got a clean header. Thanks to whom, you think?

Materazzi and Ze Maria were the strong ones in defence. Cordoba was not good enough; not only one the goal but also other times. Pasquale was shaky. IMO.
