I am not sure why soo many are relaxed about Chivu in midfield..I mean he only played there a couple of times and against inferior sides.I didnt see him doing too well there and dont expect him to do greatly against Milan..

PLease someone prove me wrong..
The problem is, we don't have anyone better there.

Would you rather see Burdisso play there ? :p

I am confident enough to see AV milan off in the derby, but i dont think it a doom if we fail to win. FORZA INTER!

Liverpool fan here :) Just thought I would sign up seeing as i've always been a small fan of Inter (1st jersey I ever had was an Inter one) and seeing the draw today for the Champions League.

Hope ye beat AC Milan and win the Serie A but hopefully ye won't be making it into the last 8 of the Champions League :D

Ibra
When people wants to play 4312 with Ibra behind the attackers, I hope you understand that he isn't much use in the the defence. If we gave Ibra a defence task he would have to be substitued in mid second half or something, and we do not want that... His strenght is mostly a great thing, but it tires him if he runs to much. On the other hand, to give him room in the space between midfield and the defence it would be magic, and it is a space he seeks out more and more...

I'ld like to see the 442 again with

Maicon Samuel Cordoba Maxwell
Zanetti Cambiasso Chivo
Cesar
Suazo Ibra

In case we need a goal exchange Suazo or Cesar for Cruz... I feel Cruz / Suazo are about equal (not in style, but in overall skill + form) and think cruz would be a better way to change the game if Milan scores and starts to defend (Suazos speed may be less important if Milan scores)...

The worst part of the injuries in the midfield is the fact that we have kind of a weak bench, not many players there to replace any of the midfielders. Matrix has not impressed me much the few games he have played this season, but there is a long way to go and he will be important, but not this important match in his current form.

where does goal.com get it's predictions. They predict a 1-1 draw, even with our form, and milans not so good form. They never pick inter against big teams. I cant wait for the CL predictions.

Minus cesar and add cruz and i will like that line up halge.

Well, I'd also like to see the 4-3-3 formation, but I'm afraid it can be quite risky for a derdy like that...

However,if we start with 4-4-2,Solari and Jimenez are good choises for the midfield positions alongside capitano and Cambi...

I'd go for this:
Julio Cesar
Maicon--Cordoba--Samuel---Chivu
Zanetti---Cambiasso---Solari
---Jimenez---
Zlatan------Cruz

FORZA ARMADA NERAZZURRA :)

Jimenez looks like a doubt he joined the team just today, maybe he can come on in the 2nd half if we need some creativity or running in our midfield..

What some in the forum don't seem to understand is that we're not playing PES or FM, this is real football, and 3 strikers in NEVER a good option, someone who has the slightest understanding of tactics would know that!

It can be a good option but surely not against a team that employs 5 in the midfield

Some of the most succesfull teams in recent years have used this formation or a variation of it if you didn't know. Barcelona and Chelsea to name two. Playing Cruz as the centreforward and Ibra and Suazo on the wings so to speak, and having them hustle back when not in possesion to creat 4-5-1 wouldn't be a bad idea at all. Infact with Milan's five man midfield it would make perfect sense. With all our injured players I wouldn't be surprised if we did play it.

No dude, neither Barcelona nor Chelsea play with 3 strikers, I repeat for the 100th time, 3 attackers IS NOT the same thing as 3 strikers! Suazo and Cruz aren't wingers like say Figo or Cesar, they are strikers ONLY and Ibra isn't good as AM, we tried that and didn't work.

I said use Cruz as a centreforward :D not a winger. And I think you underestimate the general skill level of Suazo and in perticular Ibra.

We tried him as AM last season when Ibra hadn't found his form yet, and besides playing as one of the wingers in a 433 isn't the same as playing as the offensive playmaker in the diamond formation, even though I'm convinced he could easily handle that role too. If you stopped and thought about the quality of the players we would use rather then getting caught up in textbook definitions maybe you would come to a different conclusion. Suazo and Ibra are anything but "only two strikers".

Tell me. What's the difference between playing with 3 strikers, and playing with 2 strikers and Figo behind them as we did countless times?

The 3 strikers(assuming the same 3 from the PSV game) play in a Barca attacking trio system, so Cruz and Suazo will drift from the wings and support the lone striker(Crespo). Atleast thats what i think it was.
Figo playing behind 2 strikers is completly different, hes just a playmaker filling in the hole behind the two hitmen...
