I missed the game thanks to the time zone. Can anyone write up a report on the players? What worked/ didn't? Also, Forza Inter!

Where's the love for Medel? He was a beast today! His cross made the first goal.

I thought Guarin made that pass :palm: - Great pass indeed. He caught Icardi onside in the last moment.

This was a great match specially the first half. I was hoping to see Guarin instead of Kuz and then fortunately it happened. I think Mancini has been playing a bit too defensive. That might good against tough opponents but against easier opponents and at Meaza we need to go all out!

Even against Juve, we started playing better as soon as Kuz was replaced by Podolski. We were playing 4-5-1 I believe with only Icardi as an striker and we were getting raped. We need to have some balls some time. The Genoa game was the perfect example of what I mean. People weren't happy about Guarin starting as a DM alongside Medel but it all worked out perfectly. We don't need more than one DM and then a B2B midfielder or a playmaker next to him would be fine.

I did not the fact that Andreolli was given the captain armband. I thought either Palacio or Handanovic deserved it way more.

I like Hernanes' movement but I didn't understand why he was put on the right wing instead of AM. Isn't Palacio supposed to be a winger?

Alltogether it was a really nice match and I can't wait to see Shaqiri playing for us. Mancini also seems that has boosted the moral of our players. We've been playing much better than under Mazzari in a short time. I hope we continue this way.

I also liked our counter attacks. They are not perfect but they are certainly much better than before. Now we do actually look dangerous on counters. Before it used to be long ball to Palacio, Palacio moves to the side and loses the ball, that's it, that was our counter attack.

Suddenly, I don't see the third place too far away anymore...

Am I the only one who prefers Hernanes in the offensive position and Kovacic deeper?

Nope. I want to see Kova next to Medel and Hernanes as AM if we are going with 4-2-3-1

We don't nee two destroyers! Something like, if we are playing 4-3-3. Medel as DM and Kova and Hernanes as CMs.

I disagree. We are still leaking goals, and if we play 4-2-3-1, it will need 2 strong midfielders who can cover the defense. Hernanes maybe can adapt to that role beside Medel but is not the best solution, neither is Kova. I would much rather prefer a proper DM/B2B - from our current team its one of Guarin/M'Vila, but I think this is a position we need to strengthen in Jan. Maybe Lucas Leiva.

Kova & Hernanes can play together in other formations (4-3-1-2, 4-3-2-1, or even 4-3-3 against a small team at home).

If we want to win more games, we need to improve our defense, and give it sufficient cover.

Hernanes has not played for the Brazil NT team since the World Cup in which he didn't start in any of the games and only played 64 minutes in total. He was substituted with Paulinho (in the matches against Croatia, Colombia and Netherlands) who played as one of the two central midfielders (or DMs as some calls it here) in a 4-2-3-1 formation like the one we seems to be using now. 64 minutes is for me not enough to make a judgement.
