So they have Gomez and Cuardado injured and Pizarro suspended (I havent read anything about appeal so far). Ilicić is supposedly injured too, didnt play today against Atalanta, don't know whether it's something longterm.

I don't think any other team this season will have a chance to play againt Fiorentina without 3-4 players, we are obligated to put a good display on Thursday.

I feel this could be one the most important matches in the season as Fiorentina is probably the strongest contender for 3rd place.

With us playing at home and with them lacking so many players, a win is a must.

Rossi is fantastic and Fiore are good team, but we should win this.

Mazzarri won't change the formation and it's good, these line up works. But i also think that after the rickys great start of the season, teams will turn their attention to him, and we need another creative player. We need Kova. so if it's up to me, this is my formation for Thursday:

Fiorentina is actually a hard team to predict tbh, since they are able to play with many formation variants. When they need to play a counter-attack game, they most probably will play with 3-5-2. On other hand, when maintaining possession becomes a priority, 4-back-formation is a most likely choice. However, due to unavailability of some players, it might be more predictable.

Personally, I expect them to play with 4-3-1-2, with Aquilani, Ambrosini, Fernandez as three central midfielders, supporting Valero (AM), and striker duet Rossi-Joaquin (WF). In more simple term, they will try to keep the possession as well as outpace our defenders instead due to our physical and aerial advantages.

As you might notice last season in Florenze, it's always a pain in the ass to let Fiorentina play their own game, so we must take initiative rightly from the start. It should be a good idea to maintain a compact formation, leaving no space for them to pass at.

Notable players:

Giuseppe Rossi. The man at the moment. There are some players who don't have a fixed position on the field, roaming around the opponent's pitch due to their natural creativity, and Rossi is one of them. He's already scored 5 out of 6 games (if I'm not mistaken), so I don't have to describe you more about his current form.

Borja Valero. Obvious. Especially with uncertainty around Pizarro's situation, he is the main general of Fiorentina's midfield (as he already has).

Alberto Aquilani. Natural successor of Montolivo. He's a hub of their defense and attack.

This is a very important game, and tbh I'm hoping that Cambiasso can maintain his strong run of form

Fiorentina are challenging for CL spots, so if we really are in contention, this is the game to prove it

Actually, our really, really, REALLY REAL test is against Roma. Fiorentina is just a real test before the actually real one.

I read on some other site that they were anti-Neapolitan banners/chants, but I'm trying to figure out why they would choose to do that at a match against Sassuolo, which is... pretty far away from Napoli. Was there some kind of political event or something non-football related recently that would have sparked it?
